Dr. Dawn Marie Hills, MD

Today is my 16th anniversary from breast cancer diagnosis. Dr. Hills references the surgical date as the official anniversary! ..She is an awesome physician and caregiver. She went to great lengths to figure out my health status including looking for obscure earlier mammogram.. tracking my case over a year before definitive diagnosis. It is unlikely one could find a more perceptive and thoughtful oncology surgeon. In the years since the diagnosis several physicians have commented on the site of the surgical scar as been exceptional work.

After my consultation with her,I felt like I might as well give up. She made it sound like I had no hope and that she would just poke at me until I died. I left her office absolutely despondent. It scares me to think about it even now. Thank goodness I had a second opinion scheduled and that doctor was far more optimistic. I was only a stage 2, so there was no reason for her to treat me like that. Having cancer is bad enough, but to be treated that way was horrifying.

When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer I was sent to a male physician who spent about 15 minutes with me telling me that I only needed to have a lumpectomy and radiation for a lump which was rather large. I was not happy with this and requested a second opinion when I saw Dr. Dawn Hills. She spend 2 hours with myself and my husband explaining the process of my care. First to have chemotherapy to try to shrink the size of the lump and make sure that the chemotheray that I was receiving would work for the type of cancer that I have which according to my oncologist is very fast growing. In four months the size of the lump was reduced to feeling like regular breast tissue, and the ultrasound showed it very flat and small. Plus the 2 lymph nodes had reduced in size. She then send me to a plastic surgeon that she has worked with for the past 5 years who also was very wonderful and caring. I will be having surgery on Monday of a bilateral total radical masnectomy with two of the… best surgeon's in Pasadena, CA. I would highly recommend Dr. Dawn Hills to any women who needs to have a caring phyisican.
