Dr. Dawnelle June Schatte, MD

Wow. This lady is something. I have never met her, spoke to her, was never a patient of hers but Family Care Center of Loveland where she now works, upon her recommendation, they refuse to refill my ADHD medication I’ve been on for twenty years. She won’t even speak to me to tell me why she’s doing this. I have been going through withdrawals since last Thursday and they could absolutely care less about my well being or health. I am so appalled that people like her are able to get doctorate degrees and are able to work with mental health patients. I’m to the point of turning it over to my attorney since this is absolutely unethical in every way.

I went to Dr. Schatte following a transfer. She was amazing about medication and did a great job refilling, transferring, switching, and communicating meds, but basically everything else left me feeling dismissed as a patient or outright frustrated. The most egregious example of this is when I asked for MMJ (which I do qualify for), she lectured me on using weed, then she said she believed my hallucinations that I've had 3 years before I so much as touched weed could've been caused by it. This caused me from that point on to be flippant or out right lie about symptoms because I didn't feel like having my symptoms that I've had for years being attributed to weed. Another small but personally significant thing she did was when I inquired about a diagnosis, she asked some basic questions then told me to address it in therapy instead. She never followed up or asked about the diagnosis past that point, despite it being (in my opinion) very important to address in a psychiatric setting. This… appears to be an issue more so with the facility itself than her, so I didn't count it towards my overall score, but it seemed as though she was having little to no communication with my therapist despite them being in the same facility- on the same floor, literal rooms from one another. I've previously gotten both my psychiatrist and therapist from the same place, and I have never seen such a huge wall of communication between them. Overall, if you're looking for a place to simply get medication, I absolutely recommend her. If you're dealing with frustrating doctors who won't refill your meds or communicate with you about them, she's your doctor. But medication is not the only thing I was going in for, and I very often felt dismissed, that there was a lack of communication, and like I couldn't be honest with her.
