Dr. Dayne Nelson

The best doctor I have ever had. I have a lot of issues going on, and he spent a lot of time with me and tried to address them all.

Dr. Nelson was fantastic! He seems to be operating with a limited staff, but took the extra time to explain everything.

Pros: -I was a new patient and he got me in right away after having a trip to the ER for a kidney stone. -He came as a positive referral from my regular doctor. -He is located in Castle Rock. Cons: -I didn't feel he took my situation very seriously and didn't do much in the way of new patient education on an issue that was new to me (he scheduled me to come back in two weeks). -I had a potential additional complication came up the night after saw him, so I attempted to contact the after-hours service and he didn't answer his pages all night long. -When I was finally able to contact him the next morning and explained the circumstances, he said he couldn't see me as he was in surgery all day. -When I asked about seeing someone else, he said he didn't have a "crystal ball" to be able to assess my concerns over the phone, that I didn't sound like I was in pain (I had previously explained to him that I was awoken at 1:30am due to stabbing pains that were like when I first… got the initial stone few days before and my concern was that maybe I had a new one) and to take some medication (I explain that I had, but that I was concerned about the pain starting up again after it had subsided and that this didn't seem normal or to go along with what the ER had told me about the progression of the passing of a stone) and that I should go to the ER to be assessed. -When I expressed that I'd prefer to go to him or another specialist who could specifically address this issue, he just seemed to dismiss this and repeat that if I felt I needed to be seen, that I should just go to the ER or urgent care. -It seemed that he was more concerned about me having called him outside of the normal office hours v. what potential issues I might have had. In the end, I'm just interested in having a physician with little compassion, a good bedside manner, and some patient education to help me work through questions that I may not have experience with. So if this is what you're also interested in, you may want to shop around.

One of the best doctors I have ever seen! He was caring, compassionate, and listened to all of my complaints. I was nervous about seeing a urologist, but he set me at ease and helped with my problem.
