Meet Dr. Baesel
Dr. Baesel grew up in the Kansas City area and first became interested in orthodontics through his own experience as an orthodontic patient. After graduating from the University of Kansas with a degree in Biology, he attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry and received his dental degree (DDS) in 1976 and orthodontic certification in 1978. Dr. Baesel has been practicing orthodontics in Wichita, Kansas since 1978.
Dr. Baesel’s primary focus over the years has been to provide his patients with the greatest smiles and quality orthodontic results available. He takes a conservative approach to orthodontic treatment, providing his patients with treatment options and recommending the best approach to achieve the desired results. For over twenty-five years, Dr. Baesel has been treating patients with the Alexander Discipline, a thoroughly researched orthodontic technique currently used by almost 20% of the world’s orthodontists. He continues to …keep current with the latest advances in orthodontic treatment by enthusiastically pursuing yearly orthodontic education courses in excess of state requirements.
Dr. Baesel has served in various positions on the board of the Southwest Orthodontic Society and the UMKC Orthodontic Alumni Association and is a Past President of the Kansas State Association of Orthodontists.

Dr. Baesel is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. This represents a long and comprehensive process that begins with the completion of a minimum two years residency in orthodontics, the passing of an extensive eight-hour written examination and the presentation of specific categories of cases treated in his practice to the Directors of the ABO for their thorough examination. Becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics is an elective process and represents Dr. Baesel's conscientious effort to excel in his specialty. Certification as a Diplomate signifies a unique achievement. Today there are only 1,900 orthodontists – fewer than 20% throughout the world - who are Board Certified.
Dr. Baesel has two grown children. His son Chris, who resides in Kansas City, attended Wichita Northwest High school and the University of Kansas. Kelly, his daughter, also attended Northwest High School, and is a graduate of Emporia State University and is currently working toward a degree in elementary education. He also has a beautiful granddaughter, DeeAnna.
