Dr. Dean J Conomikes

Had terrible experience today with this doctor. No help, too slow, appliances are old and outdated , no dental assistent in the office. I came for cleaning, and left with nothing.

I had deep cleaning done and several fills. First, there was Breech of Confidentiality. One of his office personal stood in the exam room with me and discussed a patient with Dr. Conomikes. I am RN and am fully aware of patient confidentiality. Second, I have had many fillings, crowns and root canals done over my lifetime and this was by far the worst novocain shots I have ever experienced. They were very painful. The last time I saw him. The Novocain shots were the worst ones and when I told him it was hurting, he didn't say or do anything. Once I got done and left the office, I realized that he had burned my lip. I had a second degree burn on my bottom lip. He used a metal syringe holder that must have just come out of the autoclave and was still hot! I definitely will not go back to him.

I found Dr. Conomikes to be affable and very capable. I have no complaints with respect to my treatment. However, I have major concerns with the Ethical behavior of the office management. With respect to insurance coverage and the office fees. I had an extensive cleaning and replacement of fillings. The insurance covered at 100%. The office opted to use a different product or material regarding the fillings. I was billed for $144.00 for what was to be coverd at 100%. If I had been informed that the product were superior and safer than the standard filling at a price higher than covered. I may have opted to pay the additional fees. However that was not the case. I am now being threatened with collections to which my reply is litigation. So while my care was very good. I am left with a bad taste in my mouth!
