Dr. Dean George Tsarwhas, MD

Like the other reviewer said he works hard to eliminate suffering while going through harsh treatments and he is a very kind, down to earth person. He takes his time talking to you and makes you feel like a human being. He is a great doctor.

He didn't give specific answers when I asked him questions. I did not think his answers were logical. He questioned my past doctors who did great with my cancer. If I had not had chemo, my cancer would have come back & per research it even told me it would more likely come back. I hope I con't get cancer again & if I do, I'll find a new cancer doctor in Grayslake, IL.

Dr. Tsarwhas is the best. He is honest, thorough and caring. I would recommend him and his staff. My family and others told me to get a second opinion, but I knew I was in good hands. I am glad to say that I am now cancer free and I thank God that I found such a wonderful doctor and a loving and caring hospital. I love his staff and Diane, who was the first nurse that I had, is the best. I just lover her.

I chose Dr. Tsarwhas for the first cancer I had, over 6 years ago, based on sound recommendations from other doctors. I believe I beat that first cancer, in part due to the excellent care I received from Dr. Tsarwhas. When I sadly found myself needing to fight cancer a second time, I did not hesitate to partner again w/Dr. Tsarwhas, though he supported and assisted me in seeking second opinions from two other also highly credentialed physicians. This dr. is current in his knowledge of cancer treatment and he continues to be an invaluable resource to me, as I now strive to live my fullest life as person w/stage 4 cancer. If you want cuddly, get a puppy. If you want an ally determined to help you live as well and and long as possible, reach out to Dr. Tsarwhas. He is respectful and dedicated to eliminating suffering at every opportunity.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Tsarwhas and was really surprised to see negative comments.Dr. Tsarwhas is compassionate, personable and approachable. I cannot say we've always agreed, but, I have always followed his lead. And when he says we need to do something; we do it. He knows his stuff, is highly intelligent and would not make decisions that are not in my best interest. He has also let me explore options for myself and has supported every personal decision I have made. My surgeon is extremely agressive. Dr. Tsarwhas is a little more conservative. They make a good pair. And, they communicate well on every stage of my treatment...even though my surgeon is out of state. This type of collaboration is rare!I am not the easiest patient. I ask millions of questions, challenge every recommendation and always play devils advocate. Dr. Tsarwhas encourages me to be me. Dr. Tsarwhas has taken a personal interest in me and my husband above and beyond my cancer. He asks… about work, life, sports, women's shoes, everything. We have seen him out in the community and he has always stopped us to ask how things are going.Most importantly, he is saving my life. I came to him with a pretty serious case. He encourages me to have hope and to keep on being me. I owe my life to Dr. Tsarwhas and my surgeon. I would recommend him without reservation.

I highly recommend Dr. Dean Tsarwhas. Not only is he an expert in his field, he also has a great bed side manner. He spends as much time with me as needed to make sure I thoroughly understand the answers to my questions. We have open communication, which is important in a doctor-patient relationship, especially when fighting a disease like cancer. He is very aggressive in fighting this disease and thoroughly explains all treatments available, pros and cons, to help one make an intelligent decision how to proceed. He also has a great sense of humor. I have recommended Dr. Tsarwhas many times without reservation.

Bad doctor. All he cares about is the money involved. Dr. Tsarwhas could care less about his patients.

Unfortunately, I have seen multiple specialists for my condition. My impression is that Dr. T doesn't seem to understand or even care, Very arrogant!
