Deana Underwood, APRN

Deana Underwood, APRN, is a compassionate and experienced Family Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing holistic, patient-centered care. She believes in treating the whole person - mind, body, and spirit - and brings years of diverse healthcare experience to her practice. Deana's extensive academic background underpins her integrative approach to patient well-being. She earned her Master of Science degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY, in May 2017. Prior to this, she secured her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University in December 2009, and an earlier Bachelor of Science in Family Studies from the University of Kentucky in December 1999. Specializing in Memory Care, Deana is passionate about partnering with patients to develop personalized care plans. Her philosophy centers on the patient as the expert; she sees herself as a vital part of the patient's team, providing knowledge and support so individuals can …make informed decisions that best meet their unique needs. She treats all people with dignity, respect, and love, as if they were members of her own family. Deana began her nursing career in 2010, building a strong foundation of practical experience before advancing her education. She holds certifications as a Family Nurse Practitioner, along with DEA/Waiver, Tropical Medicine Certificate, and BLS. Her dedication to serving diverse populations is further highlighted by her recognition as a Refugee Health Hero. As an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Deana remains current with the latest advancements in her field. The most rewarding aspect of her role is collaborating with patients to create care plans, valuing this partnership immensely. Outside of her professional life, family is Deana's foremost passion, especially spending cherished time with her nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She embraces the outdoors during the summer, enjoying activities like kayaking and swimming. Deana also finds joy and relaxation in creative pursuits such as crocheting and crafting.
