I like the practice of Anesthesiology because it allows me to make a large positive impact at a very significant time for patients. Surgery is a very stressful time, and to help with the stress I like to fully explain, in clear terms, what will happen during the anesthetic. I like to give patients as many choices as I can, to individualize each patient's experience to make it feel right for them. Relieving pain during and after surgery and during labor is also very important to me. I consider myself an "internist in the operating room" and am very concerned about the interaction of the anesthetic and the patient's other health issues. My specialty training is in cardiac anesthesia, and I also have strong interests in anesthesia for labor and delivery, trauma and vascular surgery. When not at work, I spend time with my two young children and my husband.
