Dr. Debjeet Sarkar, MD

Dr. Sarkar was excellent! He was very professional and acted quickly. He took great care of my 4 year old son. My son went in with lung and sinus congestion, O2 sats would drop to 86% when at home laying down with periodic pauses in breathing. He also had a fever for 3 days prior that was as high as 103 degrees. The doctor did a cxr, tested for flu A&B, and strep and ordered 3 breathing treatments from respiratory. He found a small amount of infiltrates with the start of pneumonia in the right lower lobe which was contributing to the crackles and rhonci sounds in the lungs. Dr. Sarkar questioned why Pediatrician prescribed prednisone and steroid nasal spray and missed doing a good lung sound assessment on day one visit. Dr. Sarkar consulted with a pediatrician at the hospital and came up with a treatment plan. He prescribed an antibiotic due to infiltrates, sinus congestion and sats dropping. He took the time to explain things and didn't ramble off a bunch of statistics. He truly cared… about the patient and the parents. We spent maybe 2.5 hours in the ER. Within 8 hours my son was feeling better and within less than 24 hours my son was able to breath normal while sleeping, sats came back up to 97-98% while sleeping. He had the best nights sleep the very first night after being seen. I was contacted the next morning by my sons pediatrician's nurse and then within 30 min. to an hour I got a call from my sons pediatrician who disagreed with the ER doctors treatment plan and told me that she wouldn't recommend taking the antibiotic and that he didn't have pneumonia and the cxr was normal and to come back into her office that afternoon for a 3rd visit. Other things were said but too much to go into. Like the ER doctor said had I waited any longer my son would have needed to be hospitalized. Needless to say I fired my sons pediatrician. Bottom line, Dr. Sarkar was awesome!!!
