Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:Pursuing a career in social work was a natural calling for me. I was very intuitive as a young child and was aware that suffering existed. I wanted to help people and make the world a better place. The social work core values of service are directly in line with my world view. ""Everyone"" deserves to be respected and heard. Being a social worker allows me the opportunity to advocate, empower, motivate and encourage resilience in others and to help them cultivate their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.What I want my patients to know about me:I have been practicing in the social work field since 1992. I have worked in a variety of settings. I have provided direct clinical services to individuals, couples, families and groups. I have worked within community organizations and advocacy groups. I have been in my current position with WellSpan Philhaven for 20 years. In my work with clients, I strive to create a space that is safe, warm …and nonjudgmental so clients may feel comfortable in exploring their issues. I implement a variety of therapeutic modalities that are person-centered, collaborative, motivational, and integrative.What I do when I'm not seeing patients:When I am not in the office seeing clients, I enjoy being outdoors experiencing nature. I enjoy biking, hiking, kayaking, running, waterskiing, rappelling, camping, and traveling. I also enjoy yoga and participating in mindfulness practices.
