Dr. Deborah M. Axelrod, MD

I am so grateful to Dr. Axelrod. At the lowest point in my life, I went to to her. I am not exaggerating when I call her a lifesaver. Dr. Axelrod is kind & compassionate. She took the time to answer my questions and didn’t rush me, like others I had been to see. I’m now on the other side of surgery & am fortunate to have a lot of support, but will always look at Dr. Axelrod as my angel.

Dr. Axelrod is a talented surgeon, but more importantly she is a compassionate human being who treats all of her patients with respect and tries to make life easier for them. I'd recommend her to anyone.

I have known Dr Axelrod for 16 years- sweet 16 to me. Throughout the cancer process she has been very helpful and straightforward about my prognosis and treatment. And who can argue with outcome???

I went to her for a second opinion. She was extremely condescending and refused to answer questions directly. Maybe she’s nicer to her patients, but she didn’t listen to my concerns and implied that I was dumb for not letting surgeons cut my body parts off without question. Not helpful and not kind.

I was diagnosed BRACA2+ shortly after I turned 29. I decided I wanted a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy and went to see Dr. Axelrod on the suggestion of my plastic surgeon. Dr. Axelrod was so friendly and warm. She was interested in my story and what I wanted and was to great to listen about my family history. The day of my surgery she went out to the waiting room and sat down with my mother and spoke with her assuring her that I would be ok and that she would be doing her best. I don’t think I have ever had a surgeon who was so empathetic and caring with her patients.

Dr. Axelrod and her team gave me medical care at such a high of level, I never could have imagined it existed previously. She has such great expertise, and was so on top of my case and its details. She is so supportive and available to talk as needed. Her team was amazing, too in the office and at the hospital. Dr. Axelrod connected me with a great oncologist and a plastic surgeon. I just couldn't be more grateful for her passion and commitment to her patients and fighting cancer. Dr. Axelrod was also very timely, she got me through surgery before it got into my lymph nodes, and kept me at Stage 1.

She spent time with me, didn't run out of the room like so many other doctors. Went over the findings slowly and made sure I understood my diagnosis and options. My family amd i will be forever grateful to her for the care she showed and her skill as a surgeon.

Dr. Axelrod was concerned about me as an individual. My care was top notch from Dr. Axelrod and her staff. A woman who runs a charity for cancer patients referred me to Dr. Axelrod as the best all around care. She was right. I highly recommend Dr. Axelrod.
