Dr. Deborah Jane Co, MD

Went to see Dr. Co for pain in my hips and pain in my legs for about a year. She told me I have bursitis in my hips and positive ANA which was elevated but that doesn’t mean I have anything. Very impersonable. She told me I need to loose weight and to do exercise. I am only 163 lbs. Told me I need to get cortisone shots in my back and probably have degenerative disc. Wasted my time and my copay. Would not recommend her to anybody.

I was transferred to Dr. Co after my long time Rheumatologist retired. I was on the same medications for almost 8 years and things were going great. I went to my first appointment with Dr. Co and she would not continue my same treatment. She immediately stopped 2 medications, changed 2 more and made me try a "new" treatment course that she recently learned about from a drug rep. (not a medical professional, a drug rep) After agreeing to this mainly because i could not get into another Dr. for 5 months, I had a huge flare up of my arthritis in my ankle and elbow. I never had a flare up in 18 years. After 5 visits to Dr. Co and pleading to go back on my prior medications, she referred me to a pain clinic and another Rheumatologist.

Dr. Co has done a great job. Her/the office communicate great, they get me in when I need them also!

Dr. Co did a great job. I was very happy with her. I was in and out and she got me the tests I needed and even called me personally with follow up information. When you are hurting and in pain its really great when she takes the time to do that

She spent time listening and evaluating my signs & symptoms both in office and with follow up testing. But, she fell short and was flippant regarding the diagnosing and treating for fibromyalgia. She even stated that I should be fine and encouraged that I had this diagnosis since no one dies from it! I think that is especially careless to state about ANY pain a patient feels and a diagnosis with no known cure & so little medical understanding. She was overly conservative and would not go beyond the three medications she knew as treatment..not even regarding advisement of alternative therapies which are commonly used for fibro (eg. acupuncture, vitamins, massage). She became egotistical & unconcerned with other possible and more modern therapies and medicines when her dated & near-sighted treatment was not working. I left with no options & her advice of this was all that was used for fibro (neurontin, lyrica & flexeril). Go elsewhere if given a fibro diagnosis.
