Dr. Deborah Lynn Duxbury, MD

I recently had my gallbladder taken out by Dr. Duxbury. I found her to be competent, very friendly, helpful, and professional. Everything went as smoothly as can be expected. I am in the health care field and I strongly recommend this surgeon. Her staff is great as well.

I went to Brookhaven Hospital after I just couldn't be in pain anymore after eating. Several times, the ER Medical Director tried to send me home and just get the diagnostic work done as an outpatient. That would mean probably WEEKS of continued pain as I waited for appointments and searched for answers. I insisted that they do a sonogram of my gallbladder, which came back as showing many gallstones. STILL, the ER MD wanted to send me home, stating that he didn't think that was the cause of my pain since my bloodwork only indicated BORDERLINE infection, which could be the result of a common cold, etc. He once again wanted me to get a surgeon's opinion as an outpatient. I asked if there was an in-house surgeon who could simply reviw it and give an opinion. If the surgeon agreed that the gallstones weren't the cause of my pain, then me and my gallbladder would leave. In came my savior in blue scrubs- Dr. Deborah Duxbury- and told me she "completely disagreed" with the ER MD and said… there was no way my gallbaldder could be functioning properly, as it was "full of stones" (ew, right?) She performed the surgery later that day and guess what, people? It's been a month since my surgery and NO MORE PAIN AFTER EATING!She even got on the phone with my mother to verify all went well post-op. Who DOES that? I am so glad that Dr. Duxbury had the gall (no pun intended) to disagree with a prior doctor's holy opinion and did what was needed to get the job done. After all, isn't that what doctors are supposed to do? Make the pain disappear and get the job done? You hear that, ER MD? Thanks Dr. D!!
