Dr. Deborah Lynette Kirby, MD

Dr. Kirby and her staff are kind and professional. I rarely wait more than 10 minutes to see her and I’ve gone from having 15 migraine days per month to none! She’s given me my life back.

We are so lucky to have Dr. Kirby in Florence! I’ve had MS for 5 years and seen two other neurologists. She was the first to really sit down and explain the disease to me. She showed me my MRI scans and explained how lesions in my brain and spinal cord are causing my symptoms. She recommended a newer treatment to put my MS in remission. She also told me about a medication for MS patients to help them walk better which no one else had even mentioned. She gave me lots of pamphlets to help me understand the disease and treatments and even a children’s book for my daughter about a mom with MS! She was awesome and I feel lucky to have found her to be my doctor.

This is one of the rudest, most unprofessional doctors with a God complex that I have EVER run into. She didn’t introduce herself, just sat down and we handed her the MRI disc we had been asked to give her. Then, she started fussing about that. When looking at my medications she asked why different doctors (in their specialties) prescribed certain meds, like she knew better than them. She proceeded to say they would do a 20 minute EEG in there and if necessary have a 24 hour one, which could be scheduled that day. Well, we were tol to just go home, she doesn’t look at her own EEGs, she has another doctor read them. There were weird brain waves on mine so when I called today about the results, I was told by an assistant that I would need the 24 hour one. She was in the background yelling, “I told them that yesterday.” Her staff is very professional and extremely pleasant. It’s just too bad I can’t say that about their boss.

Dr. Kirby really listened to my complaints and asked very detailed questions about exactly what was going on with me over the last 6-12 months with my leg weakness. She then examined me very thoroughly and paid very close attention to my reflexes. I was sent to her because my primary doctor thought I had neuropathy, but she told me she thought I had an issue with my spinal cord being compressed. She got me an urgent MRI and she was exactly right. I was seeing a surgeon the next day and undergoing decompression of my spinal cord that same week.

Dr. Kirby has no patients and 0 bed side manor the times that I have been in to see her, I felt that I have been judged and looked down on or like a kid being sent to the principals office.

Takes time with her patients and really listens.

I feel like her assistant has a most unpleasant demeanor. Dr. Kirby is pretty nice, but I am not sure I like the wait times and the fact that it takes forever to get results from tests. It's like wait, wait and then wait some more with no follow-up. Very frustrated.

This visit was like pulling teeth; she treated me as if I was a drug seeking person. I came upon her via referral following a motor vehicle accident. Granted, I have a soft tissue injury, but my injury is real. She treated me as if I am faking my injury, failing to diagnose me,but told me its all in my head(no pun intended). I absolutely HATED what little time she spent with me. She failed to DIAGNOSE me, referring to my past X-rays . I will find a doctor who will diagnose me with an appropriate prognosis.
