So rude. I saw her and she belittled my wish to drive with a slight vision impairment. I have been driving for 15 years with a impairment which is stable. She botched my husbands cataract surgery.

Dr. Tennen is a good ophthalmologist. I have a fairly complicated condition and she understands it well. During my last visit, we were not able to get my prescription completed to satisfaction. She seemed to be frustrated that we could not get it right. The primary reason I stopped going in 2014 was the incompetence of her staff -- inaccurate billing, poor follow-up and response.

I had a truly fabulous experience having LASIX vision correction surgery with Dr Tennen. The pre-surgery exam was comprehensive as was her explanation of the surgery. Some time prior to the surgery was spent trying out mono-vision to test and get the correct working prescription for me. I felt at each office visit she spent plenty of time with me and made sure she clearly explained everything and had answered all of my questions, I came in with a list of questions on my second visit. Her explanation of the laser surgery was great and very comprehensive and reassuring; just as she was during the surgery itself. She was very realistic with what I could expect and could experience in the immediate post procedure recovery. I drove 70 miles to have her do the surgery knowing the results several of my friends had that she had done LASIX on; so glad I did. I'm 36 hours post treatment, seeing great, no discomfort and so glad that I went to Dr Tennen for her skill and expertise. BTW I'm… an RN and work in private practice, never judge an office based on the front office, they are not treating you, the physician is and she is great, very skilled and knowledgeable. That said, I had no problems with the front office staff but would not describe them as warm and caring as Dr Tennen is but they are competent. She uses a full laser technique for LASIX including to make the corneal flap. From my research this is a procedure where both skill and the equipment count, you get both with Dr Tennen as your LASIX surgeon!

Dr. Tennen is pleasant and knowledgeable. her staff assistant is another story, borderline rude. the scheduling is poor. it would make sense to add the reason for the next visit on the face of the appointment card to avoid verbal orders. the wait time can be extremely long. overall, I would stick with her.

Now I know why it was easy to get an appointment with this doctor. She is rude to patients, parents, and even her staff. If you have children do not waste your time with this doctor she has no bedside manner or patience for them no matter the age.....

My wife was suffering from an eye infection. Since my son and I had gone to Dr. Tennen for eye exams, I made an appointment with her for my wife. They asked for my insurance info, then said have her come in.My wife said Dr. Tennen was impatient and rude, and spent at most 5 minutes with her. They then told her that they didn't accept our insurance, and the office fee was $160! They 'graciously' reduced the charge to $120. Needless to say, my family will take our business elsewhere.

Having had the same eye doctor for 37 years, since age 4, I was reluctant to look for a new doc- driving over an hour to return to the childhood optometrist. After "interviewing" Dr Tennen for my business, I decided to give her a try. She is professional, takes time to discuss what she is doing- translating the science into understandable terms, and took a complete history- we have lots of eye problems in the family. The transition to a new doctor can be scary- Dr Tennen made that change an easy one.

I paid $3000 to Dr Deborah G. Tennen in Agoura Hills for LASIK with the guarantee that if my vision wasn't perfect, additional surgery would be included in the price. Tennen talked me into LTK instead of LASIK. She said it would take 3 months to heal. After the surgery it took 6 months before I could see. At 3 months out I asked why it was taking so long to heal and she told my everything was normal, and then in the same visit would tell me my case is an anomaly. I now have astigmatism in both eyes and at night lights appear starred and blurred. At the end of 6 months she told me that I had to pay an additional $600 for LASIK which would correct the astigmatism. When reminded of the all-inclusive price she retorted I had to pay, since it was a different procedure. These things made me feel she is incompetent as well as untrustworthy, and since she had already botched my vision, I decided it wasn't safe to have her try to correct her mistake even if it was free as first promised.
