Summary
In May of 2011, I discovered I had a hernia in my abdomen. My family doctor, John Gelin, MD, referred me to Dr. Declan Hegarty who does laparoscopic surgery. I saw him the following week and was very impressed with his appointment, promptness, explanation of my hernia, and explanation of his proposed surgery. He sat down and told my husband and myself everything he would do and why. He had the file of my previous hernia surgery at CMHS. He came to see me as I was being prepped to reassure me. Then after surgery, while I was in recovery, he spent time with my husband describing the surgery and my condition. During my stay in the hospital, he made several reassuring visits to me in the room. Then on my follow-up visit to his office his appointment time was accurate to the minute. His consideration of patient’s time and questions is exemplary. His skill as a surgeon is a valuable credit to CMHS.
I have been a volunteer at the front desk for ten years. I have had numerous surgeries and …have always appreciated the good care I received both from the doctors and from the hospital staff. This past surgery with Dr. Hegarty has been special due to this concern in alleviating my worries and fears. He is truly my hero.
