Dr. Deepak Sudheendra, MD

I suffered for many years with heaviness in both my legs and very very severe varicose vein’s on the left side w discoloration from midcalf all the way to ankle bluish purple . This had been going on at least 10 or 15 years. Everywhere I went I had to take a folding chair if there was any standing and waiting. I had numerous RF and laser closures of my varicose vein’s but they seem to come back w new ones developing in weeks. I had pelvic pain on the left side near the ovarian area and also pain in the vulva w extremely painful sexual intercourse. Doctors didn’t know how to treat me and suggested several things that were not helpful . I eventually went to a specialist for an ultrasound to rule out pelvic congestion. It was discovered that I had MTS and I contacted Dr. Sudi for an appointment early in the Covid pandemic and I was so happy when he could take me at last. It’s almost 6 months since my surgery and almost all symptoms have disappeared. Excellent Doc and a very kind man.

A month ago, Dr. Sudheendra placed a stent in my iliac vein, having diagnosed May-Thurner Syndrome. I won't detail the years-long process that led me eventually to him, but I am thrilled with the improvement in symptoms that I've seen since the procedure. Those symptoms were: severe, debilitating pain in my left flank, left leg and right hip. Extreme heaviness in my left leg and left foot numbness and dragging, making it difficult to walk up stairs or uphill. Some issues with varicose veins, and a lump in my left calf that an ultrasound exam did not definitively diagnose as DVT. All the pain and weakness was on my left side, which was frightening to me. Dr. Sudheendra was extremely patient and honest, took a lot of time to explain, and responded immediately when I called his office with questions or concerns. I am getting my life back, and I am very grateful for his skill and care.

At 27 weeks pregnant, I was diagnosed with a large blood clot in my leg/abdomen. My leg was painful, swollen, and continued to feel heavy and fatigued as my pregnancy continued. I also suffered from pain during intercourse. Once I delivered, I underwent a scheduled venogram where a stent was to be placed. It was not done due to not being able to get through the scar tissue from the clot. I was diagnosed with May Thurner Syndrome and sent to Dr. Sudi. Dr. Sudi was very open and honest with me about my situation and gave me several options. He gave me time to think about the choice I wanted to make without feeling any type of pressure. Dr. Sudi then placed a stent in my iliac vein. Two months post procedure and all of my symptoms have nearly gone away. I feel great and it has also helped to alleviate anxieties of another clot forming knowing I'm a little more protected. Dr. Sudi followed up and checked on me and my progress. I couldn't be happier with my experience.

Dr. Sudi (as we patients get to call him) is as warm and charming as he is a brilliant diagnostician and practitioner. For four years I had experienced pain in my vulva, diagnosed by the numerous gynecologists and pelvic medicine doctors as varicose veins. I was told to lie down and put my feet up. Rather hard to go through life lying down with your feet up. The pain, intermittent at first, became worse until it was constant and quite severe, so severe that walking across a room was extremely painful. And then, through an internet search, I found Dr. Sudi. He diagnosed the cause of my pain as May-Thurner Syndrome, a condition little known to most doctors--none of the gynecologists and pelvic specialists I had consulted over the four years identified May-Thurner as the cause of my pain even though about 20% of the population, male and female, has it. Once Dr. Sudi diagnosed it and treated it, the pain disappeared completely! He gave me back my active life. I am grateful to him… every day and so happy that I found such a knowledgeable and deeply compassionate physician.

Recommended by my brother, I went to see Dr. Sudi when traveling in America. He answered every question I asked patiently and encouraged me to have the faith to have healthy legs again. My legs feel completely different after the treatment. I can carry my little granddaughter walking around gardens now. I want to give my sincere thanks to Dr. Sudi and his working team in Penn Medicine who treated me so kindly and efficiently during the whole procedure and the visits before & after the treatment.

I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Sudi as I completely respect his bedside manor, his open honesty about answering any question that you give him even if you may not want to know the answer, and his ability to make you the patient feel comfortable prior to a procedure that you are not sure that you may want to go thru. I trust his judgement completely and the best thing is that if you disagree with him, he will accept that and then suggest an alternative. I would recommend Dr. Sudi to anyone.

I recently underwent stab phlebectomy procedures to remove painful varicose veins at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. I would highly recommend Dr. Sudheendra and HUP to anyone who is in need of this procedure. His medical expertise, professionalism and caring manner made this experience a positive one. My pain has resolved making the quality of my active life much improved.

I have had four Endovenous Laser Ablation procedures at The Hospital of The University of PA performed by Dr. Sudheendra. The procedures were to treat very painful varicose veins (both legs). Dr. Sudheendra's expertise, professional and caring manner (as well as his staff members) made my experience a positive one. I highly recommend Dr. Sudheendra and HUP!

Dr. Sudi is one of the best Drs. I have ever seen. he is great!
