Dr. Deidre Leigh Mcsweeney -Tyson, MD

Dr. McSweeney-Tyson was recommended by our Pediatrician. I think she's got a pretty good bedside manner and interacted fine with my pre-teen daughter. The back office is Terrible! The lab results were never sent to my pediatrician, even after multiple requests. I had to push, push for bone age and blood work to rule out physiological or metabolic issues in her development, and then those results were never even sent back to the referring doctor. We wish we had followed the adage to get a second opinion and go to 2 doctors and compared notes before relying on her assessment that all is within normal and will turn out fine with time. It wasn't and it isn't and we've lost several years.

Dr. Tyson was dismissive and rude to me and my daughter during our visit. She did not put us as at ease and even commented "now why you here anyway?" - as if we were wasting her time. She made little eye contact with me, and her comments were abrupt and abbrassive. Follow up on my daughter's blood test was difficult to get. We never heard from her office until several phone calls and a letter were sent. I was very disappointed in our visit and lack of attention to my child's condition. It ended up being a wast of OUR time. I hope this was just an off day for Dr. Tyson and that others get better care.

Staff are uncaring, they don't seems to understand the meaning of following up. I like Dr. Tyson, but don't care for her lack of unprofessionalisism and lack on bedside mannerism. She doesn't return phone call and follow up. When try to discuss issue with her, she tried to hide behind her staff, cut me off, pointing her finger in my face in the presence of my child. She was abrasive and combative on my last visit. Not very understanding or caring of what a parent might be going through. Very judgmental, try to tell me how to raise my child.

Dr. Tyson is an awesome. She is caring and considerate and she really listens to you.

They just don't seem to care about following up with you on blood tests. Then when you call they will give you some information and then you'll ask for the doctor to call and you'll get nothing. This might just be a problem with the office...I liked Dr. Tyson. I've been worrying for over about 2-weeks now and can not seem to get any answers. Hope no other parents have to go through this and I'm just "that one" that did :(

My daughter started seeing Dr. Tyson when she was almost 12 and continued until she was 21. Dr. Tyson and her staff were always kind and caring and Dr Tyson always took as much time as needed to answer questions. It was a sad day when Kristin had to switch to an adult endocrinologist - we would have loved to stay with Dr. Tyson for much, much longer. Kristin now works for the American Diabetes Assoc. in Northern VA and still speaks so highly of her favorite Endocrinologist, Dr. Tyson!
