Dr. Denae Waugh Rickenbacker, MD

I've been going to Dr. Rickenbacker for over 4 years now. She's amazing, and has great bedside manner. I'm convinced that all of the bad reviews on here are from one person posing as multiple people. Getting an appointment with Dr. Rickenbacker can sometimes take a while because she's that good and is booked far in advance. She listens to your concerns, asks relevant questions, and (most importantly) prescribes the right medication. I highly recommend her.

I am a physician myself, struggling with some recent life changes in my family and needed some help. She talked the entire time about her qualifications and awards, and didn't even ask me any questions. I don't see other doctors very often, but this has to be one of the worst experiences I've had. I find her personality to be horrible for someone supposed to be providing care to those of us in real need of some help and compassion. I left in tears, and I really hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. Finds someone who actually cares about their patients.

I'm not one to write long detailed reviews. So, you just have to trust my opinion on this one. This office has a really bad chip-on-their-shoulder attitude. The attitude, 'we will do things totally our way', 'totally when we want to', and 'totally we don't care if you agree or like it or not.' I never even got to see the actual doctor. (Richenbacker) I decided not to follow up seeing this doctor at all after the terrible attitude of the Staff member (woman). She is obviously very intellectually challenged. But, the 'buck' must stop someplace. So, if the doctor hired such a Staff, then the doctor is responsible for their attitudes and actions. I think even a professional psych will agree in accountability and individual responsibilities to people's words and actions. I strongly give this group '1 Star' and I strongly recommend not patronizing this business with your needs unless you want to add more stress and dissatisfaction to your life.

first it takes at least 5 phone calls to get an appointment, left several messages but never once do you receive a call back. by the time you get around to possibly getting an appointment, after the referring Doctor makes the proper arrangements, the staff doesn't know what is going on and tells you differently, as you explain the two Doctors have spoken and everything is squared away, by know frustration sets in and as try to explain the situation they put you on hold to say they will call you back, which of course they don't!!!! Then to make things worse i have to find out from my Primary the staff was not comfortable with the conversation so therefore would not be taking me on as a new patient.

I saw Dr. Rickenbacker during an extremely difficult postpartum period. She went the extra mile in responding to my calls (frequent) and managing what in retrospect was extremely irrational and obnoxious behavior on my part. Eventually Dr. Rickenbacker helped me with an accurate diagnosis and referred me to a therapist/specialist. While our relationship wasn't excellent (I was extremely needy, and second-guessed her knowledge at every turn), she was patient and tolerated my issues. While she does "fire" patients (she would not see me when I felt ready to pursue psychiatric treatment again), I do believe it was well-meant as our relationship had been difficult.

I have been seeing Dr. Rickenbacker for several years. She is a wonderful doctor, compassionate and well-versed in psychiatry and related meds. I am so comfortable with her that I have gone to her and paid out of pocket when my insurance didn't cover visits to her. Luckily, my current plan does cover her and I see her regularly.

In 20 years of treatment I have never had more confidence in and appreciation for a psychiatrist.

Dr. Rickenbacker is conscientious, a good listener, takes thorough notes, doesn't rush you through the appointment, always calls me back personally if I leave a message with questions. Her staff is very much the same. She's not the type to make small talk-she gets right to it, is very serious.

When I started seeing her it was great. . At first. Then it just went down the toilet. She always asked me the same questions over and over again as if she didn't remember me telling her in my previous appointment. I felt like she never really listened to me. My parent's were paying out of pocket for my visits. She was never on time. . And I was on a medication I could not be without and she never filled it. That happened all the time. Not to mention I was pregnant and it could have had a serious effect on my unborn child. Luckily he is healthy and happy now. I then called back months after having my baby to get back in with her and her receptionist said she wouldn't see me anymore. I of course asked why and was told that I would get a call from the doctor as to why. . Still no phone call. Nor did I receive a letter stating I was fired as a patient. Very unfortunate.

Dr. Rickenbacker is a great doctor. She is pleasant, treats you with respect, and LISTENS to you. She evaluates the whole person to try and pinpoint your issues and she "gets" that depression can be as much about physiology/biology as emotion. She is extremely knowledgeable about, not just psychiatry, but general physiology and pharmacology.
