Dr. Rankin was on call the night I had a question about my daughter's at home asthma treatment. She was very condescending and belittling to me. I hope she is never on call again if I am concerned about my children's well being.

ack of consistency in billing practices! We've been taking both of our daughters to NE Pediatrics Landen office for 3+ years without issue until recently. My daughter was seen by Dr. Rankin for a non-emergency issue and she spent at most 10 minutes in the office with us. Her demeanor was acceptable, but not overly friendly. The majority of the visit was spent with her back to us typing on the computer. We received our bill today and to our surprise, it was billed as a "moderately complex" office visit. That translated to us paying $250 when we're typically billed ~$100. The billing office has been condescending and arrogant when speaking to us on the phone. We were not provided any explanation as to why our visit was so expensive other than "Dr. Rankin is great at billing". We asked to speak to an office manager and Cindy promptly placed us into voicemail. Beware that your office visit costs may wildly fluctuate based on the codes the doctor feels like entering for the day -… and you don't have any recourse. Don't get us wrong, we're willing to pay higher for services provided if the situation is urgent/complex, but a 10 minute office visit for a common teenage virus should be billed as low complexity case according to our insurance company. Also be aware that your weekend visit will cost an extra $50. Apparently this is disclosed in fine print that we've never seen. This entire situation has left us realizing the NE Cincinnati Pediatric office is not about providing quality patient care, but rather generating revenue through predatory and confusing billing practices.
