Dr. Denise Lynn Terese-Koch

I had not been to see Dr. Terese-Koch for a couple of years because I did not have dental coverage. Since I could no longer be turned down for health insurance for pre-existing conditions (Obama Care), I was able to finally get dental insurance. When I called the office, the receptionist was having trouble finding me in the system, and soon Loren came on the phone. He proceeded to tell me that I had an outstanding balance of $93.00. I told Loren I never even received a bill from the office, and asked what address this bill was sent to. The bill was NOT sent to MY address, but my ex-husband's place of residence. I tried to explain this to Loren whose response was that it was not their fault that the bill was not sent to me (really?). He proceeded to tell me that I would need to contact my insurance carrier to get referrals to another dentist. My family and children have seen Dr. Terese-Koch for several years, so I was shocked that I was being treated like a dead-beat who does… not pay her bills. I asked to speak to Dr. Terese-Koch. Loren's response was, "Oh, you mean my wife". Clearly, he wanted to me to know that he was her husband. He then said that he would give her the message, but she probably would not call me back, and this balance was already sent to collection (attorney)! It does not matter how good a health care provider can be as bad office staff is a poor reflection on the practice as a whole. It is a shame she has to employ her unprofessional spouse who will probably continue destroying her practice. I discovered that the outstanding $93.00 balance was NOT in my name, but my EX-husband! They were dropping me from their practice for an outstanding balance in my ex-husband's name that was sent to my ex-husband's address! The fact that they would turn a whole family away because of a $93.00 misunderstanding (and mistake on their part) is absurd. As long as this man (Loren) is "manning" her front office, I would stay away from this dental practice. Incidentally, Dr. Terese-Koch never did call me back. Seeing how Loren operates, he likely didn't give her the message, or perhaps not the details of the situation. She has always been kind and compassionate, and I doubt she would agree to how this man treated me.
