Dr. Dennis Zack Dawson, DPM

Meet Dr. Dennis Dawson:Dr. Dawson grew up in the neighboring state of Tennessee where his family would frequently visit the mountains just a couple of hours away from Asheville. Prior to starting his career in podiatry, he attended undergraduate at Middle Tennessee State where he obtained a bachelor’s in Microbiology. He attended Kent State College of Podiatry in Cleveland, OH where he graduated at the top of his class in 2016.Dr. Dawson was then accepted to a highly regarded foot and ankle surgical residency in Cleveland, OH. He spent time in many institutions in the Cleveland area including significant time and training through the Cleveland Clinic Institute, a world-renowned teaching and research hospital.During residency, Dr. Dawson was able to attend many conferences and additional training seminars focused on complex fracture fixation, diabetic limb salvage, and total ankle replacements. He has also been able to publish medical articles on topics including diabetic gait and limb …salvage, pediatric fractures and short toe bone lengthening.Dr. Dawson is excited to finally be heading south after 7 years in Cleveland, OH with frigid Lake Erie winds and snows. His childhood fondness of the mountains and love of hiking, hunting and fishing drew him to looking for an opportunity in the Western NC area. After meeting with the other doctors of Smoky Mountain Foot and Ankle, Dr. Dawson knew he had found a group of likeminded, community and patient first practitioners in an area he could be happy to call home.
