Dr. Dennis Guard is a native Marylander who grew up in Baltimore County. He is a graduate of Catonsville High School, where he excelled in art, history, and the sciences. He is a graduate from the University of Maryland’s accelerated bachelor of science program where he completed the four year B.S. program in three years. After graduating from the University of Maryland at College Park, Dr. Guard attended the University of Maryland School of Dental Surgery , where he was a member of the Si Omega Dental Fraternity. After four years of dental school, Dr. Guard served as in the Army as a Captain in the United States Army Dental Corp. After his military service, Dr. Guard joined a dental practice in Bethesda, Md. In the late 60’s, Dr. Guard relocated to Annapolis, where he has enjoyed a general family oriented dental practice. Dr. Guard has participated in several CE courses at the prestigious Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida. He is a fellow of the …Academy of General Dentistry, and is a graduate from the Strupp Dental Continuing Education Courses. He is a member of the Annapolis Dental Study Club, and the Western Shore Dental Study Club, as well as the Implant Study Club of Annapolis. Dr. Guard’s interests include his family, the outdoors, art, running, following the U of M Terps.
Juanita Guard - Dental Hygienist
Juanita Guard graduated from the University of Maryland Dental Hygiene program in 1987 and has been practicing hygiene since that date. She received the “Golden Scaler” award during hygiene school for outstanding achievement in clinical practice. Juanita is also a registered nurse with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She worked as an operating room nurse at St. Agnes hospital in Baltimore and was supervisor of the operating room at Spring Grove State hospital. She also worked as a public health nurse for Baltimore City and a staff nurse in the emergency room at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda. Juanita enjoys traveling, playing the piano and spending time with her four children and seven grandchildren.
