I received my bachelors and masters degrees from UCLA. I then went to medical school at University of California Irvine and did my residency at UCLA in Head and Neck Surgery. After training, I joined the faculty at the University of Michigan where I was an Assistant Professor for two years. Upon moving to USC in 1984, I was Division Head at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles from 1985 to 1993. My current research interest is in thyroid cancer, specifically in the genetic changes responsible for tumor spread.

My surgery was complicated from the beginning before I ever got to Dr. Maceri. He explained everything, from the surgery itself to the recovery. I love this doctor!

Be prepared to wait over 2 hours to be seen by the doctor.

His response to being substantially late for my appointment is that "everyone waits for him". I left. There are plenty of good, and possibly great doctors, that are capable of time management and respect their patients time.

I'm a long term patient of Dr. Maceri's and I consider myself fortunate to have him for my Doctor. He treats you like a person not a number and has an excellent bedside manner. He is an excellent Doctor.

Although you may wait a while on occasion to get in to see Dr. Maceri, it is typically because he is providing such thorough care and follow-up with his patients and/or performing surgery. I can't say enough good things about him!! If you are referred to him, you are blessed indeed and I am forever grateful to him for all that he has done for me!

I drive two hours to see Dr. Maceri. He is not only a great surgeon, he is blessed with kindness toward his patients.Would not consider any other surgeon. My case was difficult, but I had no recovery problems, and my scar is invisible.I work at a cancer center, and have recommended him to my own patients. They have thanked me everytime.
