Dr. Dennis Slavin, MD

I've been in excruciating pain for about a month and I was really looking forward to my pain management appointment with Dr. Dennis Slavin @ Rio Grande Pain Team. I've been waiting for my scheduled appt for 2 weeks now. I get a call today from Evelyn who states she has to cancel my appt bc they don't take my insurance. I checked my insurance and Dr. Slavin is in network so I call Evelyn back. She realizes my PCP sent her the wrong info so she sets me up again. A few minutes later she calls and I can tell she doesn't know how to tell me that she has to cx my appt because "we cannot see you according to my manager", and she is very apologetic. She then says that her manager will be calling me, so I ask the name of the person who will be calling me, and she says "Mrs. Slavin". I tell her "I'm sorry you will be hearing me but I know what's going on. She won't let Dr. Slavin see me bc I'm an ex-employee. Mari (Mrs. Slavin) is petty, unethical, and unprofessional. You can tell her I said… that. And again, I'm sorry you got caught up in this". I worked for Dr. Slavin for 6 years. I never stole from him nor did I do anything illegal. I took care of his patients and went above and beyond to take care of his patients. And now his petty, unethical, unprofessional wife refuses me services. I need his services as a patient, I'm not there looking for work. What happened to the Hippocratic oath Dr. Slavin took? What happened to "I will treat the sick to the best of my ability", or "I will remember that I do not treat a fever, chart, or cancerous growth (or an ex-employee), I treat a human being", and last but not least, what about "may I long experience the joy of healing those who SEEK MY HELP". I need his help but apparenlty, Dr. Slavin's wife, Mari, threw his Hippocratic oath out the window.

Dr Slaving is great he explains everything and he really cares about the pts well being...he remembers my father everytime I take him in and my father is not a regular so it me and a lot to my dad

What an excellent doctor. He has helped me so much with my back and has prevented me from having surgery at this time. I cannot say enough, and I have referred a lot of people to him. If he cannot help you he will refer you to someone who can.

To the contraire of previous reviews my experience with Dr. Slavin and his staff was very nice. I was curious going in due to past reviews, but I came to the conclusion that the supposed bad reviews are probably from patient's that wanted treatment that wasn't suitable to their diagnosis. I also found it odd that much of the reviewers couldn't even spell Dr. Slavin's name correctly. It's sad to see good doctors get bashed by probably untrue statements. I will definitely continue seeing Dr. Slavin, as I have actually experienced bad treatment with other local pain doctors. Dr. Slavin has made a great improvement to my daily activities by keeping my pain away.

I had a great experience using Dr. Slavin. I have had experiences with other doctors putting needles in your back and they were not good ones. Dr. Slavin did a great job inserting the needles and wires for neurostimulator. The procedure was about as pain free as possible. I would surely recommend him. Great Job.
