Dr. Dennis Allen Whitmer, DO

Dr. WHITMER performed robotic surgery to repair my husband's hernia. We found him to be extremely professional, informative, friendly, and skilled at this procedure. My husband did remarkably well post op and wishes he would have done it sooner. The staff at Mercy One west were incredible too! Highly recommended!

I was referred to Dr. Whitmer after a getting a very large rectus muscle hernia after a total hysterectomy. Barely 8 weeks out of that surgery I learned I would need this hernia surgery very soon. I ready many positive reviews, so I was relieved and excited to meet Dr. Whitmer. I was also referred to him based on his experience with robotic surgery. That was my main goal to fix the hernia without another large incision that would take a long time to heal. I was given a 50/50 chance. Dr. Whitmer was so caring, personal and educated me and my husband on the surgery and recovery putting me totally at ease. I would of done it that day if it was possible. The office got everything scheduled before we left. I had my follow almost a week later. Dr. Whitmer's nurse said that he was excited to hear we were in the office. Wow! He really was. It was a big surgery and he explained all his work in in detail and his excitement about the results. I am very happy with the entire experience and feel… extremely lucky to have gotten to be a patient of Dr. Whitmer's.

Dr. Whitmer is not only a great doctor, but has the best bedside manner of any doctor I've ever been to.

Dr. Whitmer took the time need to explain what his plans were to repair a hernia for me. When time for surgery, he came to my bedside made his markings and his initials. He is the only doctor that showed me how to cough and sneeze after I had the surgery so when I was out I knew what to do. The office and his nurse Deb are wonderful and easy to get into see when needed.

Excellent "bedside manner." Very good at explaining things in terms that can be easily understod. Kind and caring.

Dr. Whitmer is terrific. I'd never had surgery before and had no idea who he was (primary physician referred me to him). At the consult as well as day of surgery, he took time to explainthings to me without making me feel as though I was ignorant. Day of surgery he (and Deb, his nurse) were stellar! Serious enough but kept it light to help ease my anxiety. His bed-side manner is one of the best. Great job on the actual surgery as well. Deb is AMAZING too! Great team!

He diagnosed my problem promptly and correctly. He took the time to explain what the problem was so I understood it perfectly. He discussed my options with me. He performed the surgery and did a great job. He took his time, answered all my questions and concerns and never seemed rushed. Overall, I'm very happy with Dr. Whitmer.

Dr Whitmer was the only doc that seemed able to come up with a diagnosis for the severe pain I was having that kept me coming back to Mercy hospital. He then did a laparoscopic surgery on me and I was happy to be well, enjoyed each visit with the dr, and pleased that he didn't even leave any scars. Wonderful dr, couldn't have been more pleased with him and would recommend cute dr whitmer to anyone. In fact later I found my mother had her hernia repair done by dr whitmer and also my dad later had his hernia repaired there. Hope that doesn't happen to me, a hernia, but if so, I'll be back seeing dr whitmer :)
