Dr. Dennison Robert Hamilton, MD

I saw “doctor” Hamilton today for my chronic pain. I also brought my mri information which clearly shows arthritis and a rare condition of the thoracic spine. “Doctor” Hamilton obviously hadn’t looked at my information when he came into the room and declared that he couldn’t see anything wrong with my lower back. He then proceeded to poke me with a toothpick a few times. After this brief examination, which addressed absolutely none of my painful complaint areas, he then wanted to know about my employment status and my source of income. He was done with the appointment and was leaving until I asked him about my pain in my back. He went out to look at the info I supplied and came back in and conceded that I have some arthritis. I finally told him I felt like he wasn’t listening to me. He then told me to find someone else to treat me and left the room. I would not recommend this “doctor” to anyone. Unless of course they like to be judged and made to feel like they have to prove they are… in pain. Retire.

He is about the best doctor I've seen for back and hip. He said the next visit he's putting in a pain pump. He showed me the xrays and explained them to me. Anxious for Feb. 18th.

I went to see Doctor Hamilton at Bates County Hospital as it was near to me. I found him to be a very thorough and caring doctor who was concerned with my health and welfare. He never talked down to me or treated me with disdain as many doctors have done but considered my pain legitimate after checking x-rays and records. He can be somewhat brash at times but if he goes too fast or you do not understand just ask him to explain to you. I found him to be that way in the beginning but after seeing him about twice and knowing him better he was a great deal of help to me in giving me options on what I could do to resolve my pain issues. Just be sure you have legitimate pain and tests to back up what you are seeing him for and he will be very understanding. I would highly recommend him to see for your pain management needs. Great doctor. Highly recommend.

Dr. Hamilton was all right at my initial appointment but at the second one, in which he was to share the results of my MRI, he was abrupt and stayed in my room less than 2 minutes. He was quick to schedule me to have epidurals. When I tried to be proactive about what activity/exercise could hurt or speed up my healing, he had nothing to say and basically walked out of the room. Luckily, I went to a neurosurgeon who got to the bottom of the problem, rather than just prescribing procedures to stop the pain.

I saw him 3 times. Each time I was clear about having fibromyalgia and pursuing pain management. The first time, he focused on my knees (?). The second visit he focused on my lower back with no mention of my knees. The third visit, he ask what I was there for. I reminded him that I've told him all 3 times I have fibromyalgia. He looked at me blankly and said, "I don't treat fibromyalgia. You'll need another Dr. I only treat back problems." The first 2 times he walked out to get me more information....never returned. Had his assistant bring me a prescription of what I had been given from a previous Dr. He was with me maybe 5 minutes each time.

This doctor claims to do pain management. Though I was injured in three areas, he told me to pick one, so two of my injuries went unexamined and untreated. He claims to do medication management of pain, but he wouldn't discuss medication with me. He has an ill-informed assistant just copy the prescription my GP had given me to tide me over until I could see a pain doctor. This assistant incorrectly declared that a 20 mg dose of oxycodone would endanger my liver, though she should have known that liver damage would only be an issue if the narcotic was compounded with acetimenophen, which my prescription wasn't. The doctor came in, talked for a couple of minutes, didn't give me a chance to speak, then breezed out of the room. I had to corner him in a hallway to tell him that the prescription my GP had written wasn't appropriate and that we needed to discuss interim pain management until I received the injections he had told me I needed. As soon as I took a breath, he interrupted me with… "absolutely no" (or "not") and walked away. So he's writing me a prescription only because another doctor had previously written the same prescription, without any discussion of whether it works, whether I tolerate the side effects, or any discussion whatsoever. Actually he's not even writing it, he's having it written by an assistant who gave me incorrect information, demonstrated a frightening lack of knowledge. I also heard his assistant on the phone with another patient, and she clearly didn't know that Lortab, Vicodin and Norco all had the same ingredients.
