Dr. Derek C. Barnes earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina. He then entered The Medical University of South Carolina earning a Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree, placing a focus on Cosmetic and Family Dentistry. He served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Dentistry and a member of several professional dental associations and societies: The Charlotte Dental Society, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Dental Organization For Conscious Sedation, Old North State Dental Society, AJ Williams Study Club and the N.C. Dental Society to name a few. Family and family time is very precious to Dr. Barnes. He is happily married to his lovely wife Natasha Barnes. Dr. Barnes has two beautiful boys Derek II and Jordan. He is an avid fisherman and loves to charter boats to sport fish in the Gulf Stream. Dr. Barnes is also a private Pilot and flies airplanes as a hobby.
Dr. Barnes and his dental team enjoy observing the patient's reaction when they discover their new beautiful smiles using veneers, tooth colored fillings, crowns, bridges and implants. He has also developed a reputation of performing all dental procedures as painless as possible.
