Dr. Derek is a Western Slope native. Following graduation from Grand Junction High School, he attended Brigham Young University. He later transferred to the University of Colorado where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Medical Sciences and a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the School of Dental Medicine.
Following graduation, Dr. Derek elected to complete advanced training at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in General and Hospital Dentistry. This additional training increased his knowledge of treating medically complex patients and performing advanced procedures including Intravenous (IV) sedation, surgical placement and restoration of dental implants, and endodontic surgery. Dr. Derek is an active member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and the American Society of Dental Anesthesia.
Dr. Derek is fluent in both English and Spanish and has enjoyed being a part of several humanitarian dental trips to …Guatemala and Ecuador.
Dr. Derek is grateful to live on the Western Slope. He enjoys hiking, cycling, and spending time with his family.
