Dr. Derek Izo Mito, MD

I wasn't happy with my last visit. Receptionist didn't call to confirm my appointment and I have to call to make sure. When I got there, I was late for 9 minutes, and the receptionist wasn't very helpful and just told "you are late so the doctor won't be able to see you!" I explained myself that I wasn't aware of 5 minutes late rule & due to traffic. They are very inconsiderate & doesn't care. Why is it okay for patients to wait if the doctor is running late for 10-30 minutes but not for us?!!!

I believe that anyone in STEM should avoid making determinations within the first minute of receiving information. Less than a minute after explaining my issue, I was diagnosed with something adamantly. Unlike Dr. Mito, I have an open mind and am willing to consider the possibility. When asking Dr. Mito to consider another possibility I was told that it sounded like "hogwash" and that I can't believe the things I read online. After explaining that what I read was a peer-reviewed paper and that the condition is widely documented, he was unable to consider the possibility. As a scientist myself, I'm not someone who gets information from WebMD or Facebook. I spend a lot of time validating information and this was a hypothesis that I've been researching for two years. I meticulously logged my condition every day during these two years and the data closely matches the condition I've found. Even explaining all this and asking to explore both possibilities, I was unable to get a referral to a… specialist to find out if my hypothesis might have merit. I can only assume patients may come in pushing pseudo-science frequently and that this behavior may be a result of that, but In my opinion, any good scientist or doctor should be able to consider possibilities and not discredit a theory immediately without a valid reason. This may be a harsh review, but my hope is that improvements will come from it.

I love Dr. MITO. HE ALWAYS EXPLAINED MY TEST RESULTS. SENT ME FOR IMMEDIATE TEST WORK IF NEEDED. WAS VERY CARING about my health issues. Now I am in California and my doctor here can't hold a candle to Dr. MITO. Wish I was still in Reno. Thank you Dr. MITO FOR YOUR great care. Also the nurses and front desk.

This is one of the worst doctors, not only he totally ignored all the symptoms I told him about my mom, he kept blaming all symptoms to the chemotherapy she had over a year, he sent her for an MRI but he didn't request it with "contrast" which is a MUST for cancer patients, I went to my mom's oncologist and they sent her to ER right away, they found a brain tumor, we wasted value time with Dr Mito.

Good man and very overworked.

Not only did he totally lack any empathy whatsoever. He didn't address 99% of my issues, instead he dimissed me suggesting the ER.

Dr Mito is kind, caring and respectful. He is also through and medically competent.. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Mito is the best doctor I have had. He is very very helpful and a great listener. He goes above and beyond to help his paintents. The staff is also wonderful and very friendly.

It is really hard to find a doctor that listens to everything you have to say anymore..You get a quality Dr. in Dr. Mito..Because of insurance reasons I had to leave the clinic, but when I heard they were accepting my insurance there was no second thought about it. I went back to him right away..Nothing bad to say about anyone in this office.

His front desk secretary is rude and makes fun of the patients when they leave. His nurses don't know how to take vitals properly. Mito is condescending when a patient tries to explain a problem. He doesn't allow patients to have a say in treatment. He thinks that a "high" blood sugar is 60. He's eager to put people on medicines they don't need. Mito is always in a hurry. He disregards allergic reactions. Avoid him!
