Dr. Derek Phillips, PsyD

Dr. Derek Phillips, Director of Psychiatry, is a board-certified medical psychologist and a licensed clinical and prescribing psychologist in Illinois (and licensed in Florida). Combining a neurobehavioral perspective with precision psychopharmacology, he brings a calm, evidence-driven approach to complex mental health care. Treating Patients ages 17-65, Dr. Phillips is known for an approachable bedside manner and clear explanation of treatment options, Dr. Phillips focuses on helping patients and families navigate medication-integrated care and cognitive-behavioral strategies that improve day-to-day functioning.

A clinician-educator by trade, Dr. Phillips trained in clinical neuropsychology and completed a postdoctoral M.S. in clinical psychopharmacology followed by an 18‑month prescribing psychology residency. He serves as executive director of the M.S. in Clinical Psychopharmacology program at Fairleigh Dickinson University and teaches psychopharmacology in an APA-accredited …clinical psychology PhD program—work he describes as among the most meaningful parts of his career.
