I attempted to submit a review from my phone upon request of Survey Vitals but did not finish and an error occurred. Because it is so important for me to say this, I am trying again. This team ( I only remember Derek's name because he was so good natured as was the whole team ), was compassionate, listened to me and my fears and took all into account. I had the same surgery in May and the first bit of time in recovery was terrifying. I have had ARDS and so the thought of intubation and being "out" creates panic in me. How many people have a total knee replacement with a spinal and IV sedation to avoid general anesthesia? ME for one. So this time kindly rolled me into OR explaining everything I was seeing and gently explained how I would feel, etc. I don't remember being sedated but at one point making eye contact with the male nurse anesthetist, I mouthed bye bye and he smiled and I was at peace . After extubation, when I started waking up, they were still with me working with… the nurse on my pain level and my O2 level. They had me completely out of pain while not alarming me about the drop in O2 which they handled calmly with me following directions. Then they were gone having completed their job all the way through.
