Dr. Derek S. Turner, MD

My dad went in to see him to see why after 9 months of having flu like symptoms and pain in his leg after having his open heart surgery and Dr. Turner just bypassed it as people taking longer to recover. So instead of sending my dad to see his cardiologist or neurologist right away that day, he sent him home with no answers. Need I remind people my dad has had chronic heart disease since he was 40 years old and at this time he was 66, along with both of his parents which one died from at 49. So with being said my dad came home and within a few hours my dad was dead. I blame this man and his nurses for just by passing my dads issues because I feel my dad could have been helped if he was treated differently with Dr. Turner knowing his health history. So now my dad is no longer with us and this man is still treating people with no care in the world. Signed, One upset Daughter

I have had high blood pressure readings, been in and out of every hospital and doctor office EXCEPT his! Even after calling and explaining chest pain high blood pressure(mine is always low or normal), swelling etc I STILL never got a call back to set up an appt. He wouldnt even go over test results and wanted me to come in to discuss them 3 WEEKS OUT! So sit and suffer and wonder for 3 weeks. Since then, I've been in the ER where they found a lesion on my liver and have seen an endocrinologist who has so far diagnosed me with hypothyroidism and hashimoto's thyroiditis. And there may be more. I'm still getting flares that restrict me from every day tasks and work due to swollen hands and fingers. Oh and it looks like I've been stung on my bottom lip by a wasp and none of these swelling parts of my body are allergy related. My body is literally attacking itself and my doctor sees absolutely NO urgency in seeing me.

He is a great listener and really goes thru my lab results. I like him because he doesn’t say lose weight the very first thing to solve a problem. Hope he stays around for a very long time.

I saw doctor turner for an unconventional reason: opiate withdrawal. He is my primary care doctor. He does not specialize in this and I would not overload his roster with people looking to get off opiates. What I can say is that he was so professional and understanding. Not once did I feel bad about myself in his office. He gave me the positivity and courage to go through withdrawal twice. He did not cater to me or overload me with comfort meds. He gave me what I needed. I've been getting older and thinking I should make another appointment for a yearly physical. He also just helped me with and emergency tooth ache. Wonderful. I think any bad reviews would be from people who are quick to ask for medication. This is not your guy if you want pills and that's it.
