Dr. Derek Y Yuan

I have been in pain for almost a decade with my migraines that it has become debilitating. I cannot express how much it means to me that he was able to not only understand what I was going through, but found the right treatment for me. With my 3 week long migraine attack, I was growing so desperate and was so disturbed, I could not focus on life anymore. I cannot understand how some small pills have allowed me to finally lay my head down on a pillow without their being any pain or waking up in the middle of the night without clenched teeth and another pounding headache. I cannot give all the credit to the pills, because Dr. Yuan was the first one who truly sympathized with my migraines instead of telling me simple methods of what to do or blaming it or hormones. I cannot thank him enough. I do not have an old life back, because this feels new, not having a constant headache or being weary of your triggers; it truly is a new way of living. I don't have to worry about triggers and I am… only one week into my treatment.

I scheduled an appt with Dr. Yuan because he was the only one who had an available slot, and I needed to be seen asap for persistent unusual headaches. He was knowledgeable enough, but very much into getting his tasks done. I didn't find him attentive. Very little eye contact. First words , even before a conversation started were " I know you want to tell me about your headache, but wait until if finish the checklist". This was a long yes/no list. Visit felt very mechanical, and structured. I was asked which medication i preferred, which was strange to me. When I asked if a cat scan was needed for these persistent headaches i was told " If anything was going to happen it would have happened by now". Very inappropriate. Needless to say, I will not be following up with Dr. Yuan. I hope this helps his manner, and he will show more concern and care.
