Dr. Devbala Ramanathan, MD

Dr. D, as I call her is an excellent provider. She is my OB/GYN for the past 27 years and still is. I am always looking forward for my annual check up with her. She always asked how are her “children” are which I find it compassionate. Judge not the book by its cover. The office may not be as what you expect but it’s not that bad what matters is you get the best care and an excellent bedside manner. My latest check up with her she felt a lump on my breast. She send me for mammogram and sonogram. Bingo! This is in response to one of my review about her inactive insurance that Dr. Ramanathan won’t see her. First of, you’re lucky because as a specialist, Dr. Ramanathan only charges $80. I worked in a specialist practice as well and we charge $150 for self pay patients. I highly recommend, Dr. Ramanathan.... 5 stars ??

I wish I can give no stars to this ‘office’ Upon entering the hallway is very shady and dark then there is a small space that looks like an apartment with some chairs and a desk to make it look like an “office”. Doctor would not see me because my insurance was not active. Demanded I paid the $80 consultation fee before she can even see me. Receptionist asked if my name ‘Stephanie’ was my last or first name really? Please do not fall for the nice reviews on here and avoid this dump at all costs!

Dr. Ramanathan is not only Doctor, she is wonderful person, she helped me during my rough and tough days. during pragnancy till delivey she took care me as my mother would. Always great advise and follow up gentally.

I am a woman of 56 years old.Dr Ramanathan performed a hystorectomy on me. She was very caring and attentive to me. The procedure was done at Flushing hospital. Dr Ramanathan spent excessive time with me, both before and after my surgery. Her office is certanly not the cleaniest and organized, but her knowledge in the feild and care for her patients is top notch. I defenitly recommend Dr Ramanathan to my family and friends.

There a couple of things that i did not like about this Doctor such as her clinic is never clean, so much of dirt on the floor, on her desk; her equipments are not accurate like the weighing machine and her ultrasound machine is so old must be from ancient times that it makes such loud and annoying sound when she turns it on; and most importantly she does not give you enough time and any suggestions like what you should do at this stage and if you tell her that you are having some problem then she would tell you that its normal or that you worry too much, most of the time she handles two patients at a time which is very very unprofessional.

The moment I walked into the office it seemed unsanitary. There weren't even any staff memebers. The doctor asked for $150 for an injection and would not give a receipt. So I decided to not get the injection from her and called the insurance company instead who said that the injection should be covered. I informed the doctor of this but she refused to give me the injection without first paying her $150. I asked her I would gladly pay but not without a receipt. She refused and said to me that if I dont get the injection it will be harmful for my baby. I decided to go to a hospital instead where they gave me the injection without charging me a single penny. Other people I have talked to have had similar experiences with this doctor. I would not recommend her to anyone.
