Kind, courteous Physician (DK) with marginal information on treatment protocols for patients with Sickel Cell Anemia. Noted having worked in hospitals with high occurrence, but does poor History/Physical, and would not take directive from patients Hematology/Oncology specialist until failed treatment with pain medications proved to be non effective. Oncologist at Children’s Hospital LA contacted while in treatment room at ER by the patient directly only to discover his over the phone protocols to be on point and within hearing distance of his treating nurse. Funny how ER Doctor returned to patients bedside wanting to try something different. What a discouraging team of healthcare professionals on duty right now. Doctors lack of experience was further identified when offering to add to the census (those hospitalized). Sad I am to discover this practice.
