Dr. Devinderjit Singh Bhangu, MD

My husband was diagnosed as hydrocephalic as a baby and has had a shunt to drain CSF since he was 10 weeks old. He was having issues with dizziness, numbness, and other neurological symptoms the weekend before Memorial Day. We went to Ascension Genesys the next Tuesday where Dr. Banghu diagnosed him has having had a TIA. He was prescribed a statin and put on baby aspirin. My husband called the office on Thursday, as instructed, to schedule a follow up visit and was advised they would call him for scheduling. He continued to decline over the week so we returned to the ER on Saturday. He was again told by Dr. Bhangu that it was a TIA or even a minor stroke. By this time he was beginning to have headaches often associated with shunt failure. We specifically asked Dr. Bhangu several times if this could be shunt related, and he replied that he would be “surprised” if it was. My husband went from being able to go the gym 3x the weekend before Memorial Day to not being able to stand… unattended due to dizziness. His PCP wanted to send him back to the ER at Ascension, and we refused. I drove him to U of M on June 6, where we learned that the head CT scans done at Ascension (that we were told were normal) actually showed enlarged ventricles in his brain…yet another sign of possible shunt failure. After a shunt tap, which resolved all symptoms almost immediately, neurosurgery at U of M confirmed it was indeed likely shunt failure. However, because of my husbandd being on aspirin due to the TIA that apparently never happened, they wanted to delay surgery until the aspirin level dropped below therapeutic levels. After having an incredibly scary June 8 due to symptoms returning as the pressure began increasing in his head again, they did shunt revision surgery on June 9. He was able to come home on June 10 and has had no neurological symptoms since. There was no TIA, no stroke, only a failure of the shunt. And do you remember the call back we were expecting from Dr. Bhangu’s office to schedule a follow up? It finally came…three weeks after his surgery at U of M.

Dr. Bhangu has a very condescending personality, including his remarks. He seems to have very little genuine concern for his patient.

Went to see Dr. Bhangu 8 days ago. Yeah I know it hasn't been that long. Went to have an EMG done and I've called the office since my appointment 4 different times. To get the results for an EMG should only take 24-48hrs and I have yet to get them. The Dr. himself was very nice, the receptionist on the other hand was very short, rude and they never answer there phone and when it goes to voicemail you can't leave one because its full. Not sure how anyone would be able to make an appointment here seeings no one ever answers I've called in the morning when the first open few minutes after lunch and 45 minutes before they close and never once has anyone ever answer the phone. Was able to leave 1 message and I have yet to receive a call back. That office needs a better way of running because the way it runs now is crappy!!!!!

They were quick to schedule my first visit and testing but after that I did not receive test results and I was not able to get in contact with them. They don’t answer the phone or call back. While in the hospital dr bhangu was 95% sure I had vertigo but after a MRI he told me he was 95% sure I had MS. After more MRI and a bunch of tests including a spinal tap everything came back normal. When I had my follow up visit with dr bhangu he and his staff were rude and he insulted me and he had no answers why I had the semtoms I did.

Thank you Dr Bhangu for helping me!!! Dr Bhangu is wonderful, he listen to me, reviewed all my test and explained the result so I could understand them. He never made me feel he was in a rush. He is the only neuro doctor that helped me, I've seen 3 of doctors. His staff has been wonderful,so kind. They are very busy. The phone rings so much, I've never seen one person answer the phone so much and take care of patients. Both ladies are so nice and hard workers. Looking forward to my next appointment.

I saw the doctor for an ongoing neurological disorder that I have. Not only was he insulting, he was short with me and rude. He ordered testing which I had two days after my appointment. I was pleased that the test was done so quickly. However, it has been over a month and I have not heard from him or his staff regarding the results. I have been trying to reach his staff for two weeks but they never answer the phone and will not return my messages. Very frustrating.

I have seen Dr. Bhangu twice and he helped me very much! He was very nice, assessed my situation correctly, and made my life better. I am thankful my regular doctor sent me to him. Havent been to office to see him, just saw him in hospital while admitted. He seemed to know what he was doing. Needed to call for an appt and all I get is answering machine. Have tried for days. My primary doctor had to call to make my appt which they told me they had the same issue. I didnt get a confirmation call so I decided to call myself to confirm and got a recording that the voice mailbox was full. Not liking this at all, how does a doctor do business like this.
