Dr. Dewey James Bailey, MD

Give me needles and nobody shows me how to use them going back to the medicine I was taking before I saw him not coming back to any of the doctors. I dont know anything about these needles. I will go back and start taking the medicines I was taking before. Very upset no longer need yalls service.

I have seen Dr. Bailey for several years. His office is extremely busy and you are lucky to spend 5 minutes with him after waiting over an hour. If you have an emergency no assistance is available. Unfortunately diabetes specialists are limited in the Roanoke Valley. I hope one day more doctors will be available. I would certainly seek a new one.

Dr. Bailey has been my doctor for almost 20 years. He is the BEST ALL AROUND!

Over 2 years I've complained about nerve pain running down my right side. Dr Bailey refused to discuss instead told me to see my PC. It has since been diagnosed as Proximal diabetic neuropathy. He is friendly but not interested in anything that requires more than 3-5 mins of his time. I have never had vitals taken or any kind of foot examination. Upon getting my pump, he failed to show at the appointment leaving it up to the gal who teaches pump use. It was Friday and within 24 hours I had a BG of 39. There were no instructions who I should call. I made the adjustments myself and closely monitored. My next appointment I insisted on seeing the Doctor rather than his PA. Dr Bailey was angry I did not follow protocol, however, no protocol was provided. He is very friendly during the 3-5 minutes you see him, but don't bother him with problems or concerns. His protocol is quantity of patients, not quality.

Very positive experience. Very patient, caring and understand. One of the best. Worth the wait!!!

I found Dr. Bailey to be very concerned & easy to talk to . His saff were affable & prompt . I am happy with my app't there & should the need arise .I will certainly go again!

Initial experience with Dr. Bailey was great. However, over time my office visit time with him as decreased DRASTICALLY!!! My last visit with him, he was in my patient room less than 3 minutes. Very sad, given the fact that I had just experienced some major trauma in my life which I'm sure was affecting my glucose levels. It's like he doesn't have time to spend with his patients any more.

If you can actually get an appointment, reserve the whole day. The front office staff will greet you as if you're bothering them. They'll move you from 1 waiting room to another, to another, to another. Yes, expect to wait in FOUR different places before and after seeing Dr. Bailey. After reviewing your medications and medical history in the hallway, in front of everyone, to a nurse (who may or may not be on the phone with someone at her house), you'll wait for the doctor. Don't expect any kind of physical exam, or for your vitals to even be taken. You'll get orders for lab tests, but no explanation as to why or what they are testing for. Blood is drawn onsite, which is nice, but since it's not taken until AFTER your appointment with the Dr., you won't have any feedback or an opportunity to discuss the results with him. Then, when you check out, you'll notice that the diagnosis on your paperwork may or may not be correct...Perhaps if the Dr. spent more than 3 minutes with you, did a… physical exam or reviewed your medical history, he'd realize there's more to your condition. Dr. Bailey seems like a very nice, reasonable man. He does listen when you talk...for the 2 minutes you'll spend with him. But sadly, in this practice, as a patient, you are nothing more than a number.

I have been sick for over 20 years and I have seen a lot of doctors .Dr Bailey is one of the best. You will have to wait months for the appointment. Then you be herded thru like cattle for an office visit, My first visit he spent over an hour with me .he is always available and has hospital privileges at Roanoke Memorial

My experience with Dr. Bailey and his office has not been positive. Although Dr. Bailey has a good bedside manner; many times he is in a hurry and does not spend the time necessary to address medical issues. His nursing staff show little compassion and patience to a diabetic patient. Unfortunately, there are few doctors in the Valley that specialize in diabetic care. If I could, I would certainly seek another doctor.
