Dr. Dhammika Ekanayake, MD

I am writing this review because of the poor, the very poor service at Bravera (Bayfront) Health of Spring Hill. My daughter was sent in to the hospital from a infection disease doctor for very bad infections in her leg. The leg is swollen three times the normal size with very bad infection. The doctor said, she needed to have IVs for the infections and pills would not work. In the hospital they put her through a CAT Scan and stated that she needed a IV doctor once they were able to clear the infection. Then comes along a doctor from Access Health Care Physicians LLC who had nothing to do with her problem. Because her regular physician was not aloud in Bravera Health. This doctor, doctor Ekanayake from Access Health decided my daughter didn't need to be there in Bravera and told the staff to send her home. My daughter filed an appeal and they told her she should stay in the hospital getting the IVs and other medications. When doctor Ekanayake came in Today (Tuesday) morning he… was very mad and he had the nurses take off her IVs and take all her medications away plus pain medicine. She is in terrible pain right now. The nurses said they can't give her anything. This doctor has gone against the hospital staff and her infection disease doctor stating that he knows better than anyone. Please be very aware of Access Health Care Physicians LLC and especially this doctor Ekanayake and the hospital Bravera (Bayfront) Health Spring Hill.

My husband and I both had our wellness check-ups last week. We both had a number of issues we wanted to talk over the Dr. E. He was amazing! He did not rush us through and gave us all the time we needed to get our questions answered and our issues resolved. His staff is also excellent. They are always available by phone to answer our questions and never make us feel like we are bothering them. Plus, we never have to wait more than 5 - 10 minutes to be seen.

I have been a patient of Dr Ekanayake for quite some time now, he and his staff are very caring people. I am very thankful for everything they have done for me with my new cancer diagnosis. Got referrals and appointments ASAP!! The office has provided me with nutritional drink samples all along as I was not able to eat. Cant say enough this office and Doctor. Would highly recommend!!

He is a great doctor, sees his patient in the hospital. Gives referrals when needed. Office staff is friendly and very helpful. Easy to get appointments. Short waiting times

This Dr is about making money. Bedside manner is atrocious, ordered absolutely unnecessary test's, would not properly refill a med that I have taken for a number of year's, would not refill a medication that I have taken for year's, tried to change medication's that work, medication's that he is not qualified to change, he explained nothing, and if you are looking for a Primary to help you acquire an M. M. J. Card, forget it. I called my cousin who is an outstanding Primary Care Physician in, Vegas. I told her about my office visit with, Dr. Ekanayake. She researched him, called me back, and told me to find another Primary. I suppose that says' it all. This is the first review that I've ever written. If you are looking for a new Primary Care Dr, no kidding, bypass calling his office. It's a shame that I had to rate him one star. It is more than fair to rate this Dr. with a 1/2 star rating. I hope that my review will save you the time, trouble, money, and aggravation of… experiencing, what will be, a distasteful visit to a distasteful Dr.

Dr. Ekanayake refuses to give referrals for anything. HE wants to do it ALL!!! Then his incompetent office staff forgets to cancel an appointment then tells you the Dr. has discharged you as a patient for a missed appointment!!! We were NEVER notified as such but then he refuses to refill necessary medication like heart medication, bp medication, insulin etc.... THE WHOLE 8 MONTH EXPERIENCE WAS A NIGHTMARE!!! And be mindful ladies... he has a real issue with overweight women. He made comments to me even after I lost 12 lbs. So glad we are free of these incompetent fools!!

Great office staff. Doctor will spend time to answer any questions you have. Does not push unnecessary medications on you. Best of all, when you have an appointment, you are seen right away. No waiting around for hours. I'm in and out of his office in 30 minutes most visits.

This man answered TWO personal cell phone calls while delivering a cancer diagnosis to my mother! Then told her the wrong type of cancer and recommended NO treatment "because she is 80" despite the correct cancer that she has is 70 percent curable with surgery. Unbelievably incompetent medical practice.
