Dr. Dharmendra Verma

I was referred to Dr. Verma by my primary doctor because I had been having strong, frequent heartburn. I made the appt. and filled out requested paperwork. When I checked in for my appt. I was given a large packet of forms to fill out, many of which I had already filled out. I was called to a room, weight and BP were taken and again, the nurse asked me the same questions as those on the forms I had previously filled out. Then I was sent to a private room and after some time a student PA came in. The first words out of her mouth were "and you are here to schedule a colonoscopy? I informed her I was not, that I was here to address concerns regarding my heartburn. She asked maybe 2 questions about my symptoms, which had already been relayed to them (more than once!), but again mentioned the colonoscopy and stated they would likely have me schedule one, asking if I was interested. I informed I would have to check with insurance but was more concerned with my heartburn. Then the… blonde PA came in and right out of the gate mentioned that my insurance would cover the colonoscopy. I was dumb-founded and literally asked her if there was a known correlation between colon cancer and heartburn. She said no, but that I should have a colonoscopy due to my age. I informed her that I was confused because I was hear to discuss my heartburn. She asked if I was taking medication. I told her I was and had been for several months and that I was concerned because the label mentioned seeing a doctor if you taking for longer than a couple of weeks. The PA said that it was fine. Continue to take it. The warning was only to make sure you saw a doctor if you continued with the medication. Which was EXACTLY why I was there. But they never asked about my heartburn, symptoms, lifestyle, history, etc. The PA then sent me to another room to schedule a colonoscopy. But she did say they could do an EGD at the same time. Whatever that is? Never discussed it with me. Upon meeting with the woman scheduling my appt, I was informed that my insurance would pay for my colonoscopy but I would have to pay to have the polyps removed. I told here I was unaware that I had any polyps. She seemed taken aback. She also said they would schedule and EDG at the same time and needed to pay upfront for that. So strange. No one ever asked any questions about my heartburn. Never saw Dr. Verma. Spent over an hour at the appt. and saw 2 nurses, a student PA, and a PA, and was never asked any further questions about my heartburn other than what was on the forms I had filled out. No results. It seemed as if they were only interested in pushing me to have a colonoscopy. I did not schedule another appt. with them and will not be going back.

Dr. Verma is a very intelligent, focused, kind, caring compassionate physician. I have been a patient of his for 5+ years and have always been impressed with his knowledge and bedside manner. I’m lucky to be alive. He takes extra precautions on diagnosing and treatment

I had a shoulder surgery and a week after I had problems with my liver probably due to anesthesia. I was referred to Dr. Verma. He insisted that I had hepatitis and liver cancer. I was tested 3 times for hepatitis because he was sure I had hepatitis. I do NOT have hepatitis. He insisted that the kind I had was STD related. I accused my wife of 25 years of giving this to me, before the results were in. That did not go over well. I waited a few weeks to find out that I did NOT have liver cancer either. Dr. Verma the ordered both colonoscopy and endoscopy(both unnecessary). Instead of saying I don't know what's wrong with you, or as I later found out the liver problem was due to the surgery anesthesia by a different gastrointestinal doctor. This guy is just ordering test and procedures that were not necessary. Do not go to him!

Where to start. I went to Dr Verma to have hemorrhoids banded because he does them in office. By the time I left his office he had me diagnosed with anal warts and probably having cancer, since that is an STD. I knew that was wrong because I have never had anal sex and would probably have warts in other places if that were the case. I called my regular gastrointestinal Dr to confirm that based on previous colonoscopies I have a enlarged anal polyp due to chronic anal fissures. My regular gastrointestinal doctor did an exam to confirm this once again. Not even close to the cancerous STD that Verma said I had. He never bothered to consult my records -which he has since been blocked from receiving. I left his office in tears and beside myself. He sent that diagnosis to the surgeon that is to remove the polyp. The surgeon took one look during his exam and removed Dr. Velma's ridiculous diagnosis from my charts. He was unfriendly and quick to make a ridiculous diagnosis. Please do not see… this so called Doctor. He is an overzealous unknowledgable quack!

I went to see dr verma to keep up with my hep c genotype 1. I always had good labs and was waiting for the better drugs that were very promising. I saw him one time briefly and he was not friendly. After that I saw his NP which I liked. A little over a year later he decided to see me and tried high pressured me into doing the pegylated interferon/ribavirin treatment that upon reading had the lowest cure rate for my genome type which was the most common but not for this area. Plus it's very harsh and makes people very sick. The new drugs without side effects were right around the corner of getting FDA approval. He acted like a high pressure salesman and tried to scare me into treatment, all my labs were good so I found this odd. Also his office personal lost my file causing me to wait even longer. After the way he acted (very controlling) I never went back, and chose another gastro. I'm now cured using the harvoni treatment and had no side effects.

Enjoyed my visit. Dr Verma very knowledgeable and excellent bedside manners.

If ur looking to just get meds and do procedures this is your spot. He only seems to just want to do costly procedures instead of actually fixing the problem, the staff is not that great and do not like to return calls. after 3 years, and multi procedures they still cannot give me a proper diagnosis nor does it seems like they care. I will be getting another opinion on this matter. the doc knows his stuff but he is never around to treat u much less hold a conversation and at $300 a visit is just crazy its all about the $$ to this place

Dr Verma took the time to explain in detail my problem. The staff was nice and explained in detail my procedures. Had a great experience . I would recommend anybody needing a gastro specialist Dr Verma.

I had a great experience. The wait time was short and the atmosphere was friendly. The staff was very nice and talked to me like a friend rather than a number. The doctor was very young and friendly. He took the time to go over my results with me in terms that I understood. I was recommended by friends to go to him and I am glad that I did. Now I tell others about him. I have never heard an unkind word about him or his staff.
