Dr. Diego Echeverri, MD

Dr. Diego Echeverri received his medical degree from Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Bogotá, Colombia. He completed his internship at San Juan de Dios Hospital in Armenia, Colombia, and went on to finish his internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at the University of Alberta Hospitals in Alberta, Canada. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (FASN) and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC), and is a member of the American College of Physicians and the International Society of Nephrology.

Since joining South Florida Nephrology Associates in 1992, Dr. Echeverri became a partner and co-owner of the practice and serves as Medical Director for several Fresenius dialysis clinics in the Fort Lauderdale area. In his clinical practice he and his team provide comprehensive nephrology care for conditions such as chronic kidney …disease, end-stage renal disease, acute kidney injury, hypertension, electrolyte and acid–base disorders, and glomerular and tubular diseases. Services and procedures offered through his practice include medical management of kidney disease, dialysis care (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis) and dialysis program oversight, vascular access planning and coordination, transplant evaluation and coordination, and diagnostic procedures commonly used in nephrology such as kidney biopsy when indicated.

Dr. Echeverri is also active in clinical research: since 2005 he has served as principal investigator and co-investigator on numerous clinical trials and studies with the South Florida Research Institute, a division of South Florida Nephrology Associates, helping advance therapies and care models in renal medicine. He communicates with patients in English, Spanish, and French, which supports care for a diverse patient population.
