Dr. Diego Jose Gonzalez, MD

Charged a LOT of money to tell me they couldn't or wouldn't do anything, I have a more complex problem so I don't fit on the steroid injection assembly. Why become a pain specialist if you're going to turn people away? I don't get it. If you need a real pain Dr. go somewhere else. UNM is not good but a least they'll try something.

Finally a doctor who understands my pain. He is knowledgable about my rare pain condition and how to handle the agonizing pain. Good doctor!

Dr. Gonzalez has preformed bilateral nerve ablation on my low back to alleviate severe low back and leg pain. He has also injected several arthritic joints with success I couldn't be more pleased with the actual procedure and results! In my opinion, Dr Gonzalez is incredibly skilled at identifying the problem nerve to ablate. I also have had nothing except pleasant experiences with respect to his office staff.

Paid my co-payment at the time of visit and continue to receive billing despite emailing a copy of the receipt issued at my visit.Simple consulting visit, not even a prescription. Billing from Doctor's Office clearly states $40.00 is for Copayment. I called and billing tried to tell me there is a separate facility fee. This is not indicated on the bill which clearly states "$40.00 was billed to you because of your copayment amount.". Have contacted my Insurance Company and they paid for this office visit and confirm the only thing that I would have been responsible for is the standard $40.00 copay, which I made and have the receipt for.

The man is horrible and did nothing to help me. I was so disappointed. Not only did he not help me but I paid my copay and i am still receiving bills because they can't get it together. What a waste. He's not a pain doctor, hes a joke.

I've been a patient for at least 5 yrs and I have found him to be very knowledgeable and caring with a good sense of humor.

I was referred to Dr. Diego for abdominal pain I was having and he walked into the room, pressed down on my abdomen and said it was nerve damage. Said he would give me a shot and sent me to speak with someone to schedule. She asked who my insurance was, said she would look into getting approval and get back to me. She then said if I didn't hear back from them in a month, give em a call. What a joke of a clinic and doctor!

Caring, Explains well, helpful, informative.

First of all he didn't review my medical records. Instead told me I was over weight according to the BMI CHART. I tried to explain to him but he wouldn't listen. My dad was 6'2 and weighed 120 pounds . he had the same disease I do. Which I do agree somewhat that a few extra pounds could save my knees. But the way he went about it was just wrong. No bedside manners. He had bad breath. Which he should worry about.
