Dr. Dina Frid, MD

I was referred to Dr Frid on an advice from a fellow parent for my autistic son. Although my son’s medication was working so well, she made the decision to switch out the medications without our consent and my son ended up in the psych ER. She is better at psychotherapy than our previous psychiatrist but we’re switching back because she either doesn’t respect the patient and parent’s wishes or prefers to administer her own version of antidepressants.

Had my older autistic daughter see Dr. Frid and we tried every medication we could find for her, didn't help. She ended up in the psychiatric ward at UCSF. Never contacted us afterwards. We switched to another psychiatrist up north. Do not recommend.

Thanks to Dr. Frid, my teenage son found direction, motivation and became much more communicative. I wish we had found her when he was a sophomore, not a senior in high school! Dr. Frid is down-to-earth, calm and unpretentious. She finds a way to connect with boys, and in our case this worked wonders.

I first had Dr. Frid when I was in psychiatric ward. She was rude and had no bedside manners. She really isn't that friendly of a doctor and she did not schedule a follow up after the psychiatric appointment. She did not address my concerns at all and only likes to talk to older people like my parents. Avoid her if your child is autistic.
