Edward M. Jackson,DMD, FAAPD Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry It's actually amazing that Dr. Eddie (as he is known to parents and children alike) even became a dentist.  As a child growing up with severe allergies, it was decided that he should receive multiple allergy shots every week.  Now this may not sound like much to someone reading this, but please read on.  As a latch-key kid in a single parent home, his mother had to find someone who could administer the shots.  This did not prove to be too difficult as his next door neighbor was a dentist and offered to help out.  Although quite proficient in giving injections in the mouth, this dentist had much to learn in administering injections in the arm.  The weekly black and blue "gifts" left on his arms weekly caused him to fear needles and the dentist.  Amazingly enough, this fear was eventually overcome when he met a very talented dentist who calmed his fears and allowed him to relax in this sometimes …intimidating environment.  After completing his undergraduate studies at Yeshiva University and graduating with honors, he decided that he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his own dentist, and become a pediatric dentist. He chose to attend the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and graduated in 1999 having received awards from the American Society of Dentistry for Children (ASDC) and the Academy of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities (ADPD)for proficiency and achievement in pediatric dentistry.  He continued his education by attending the pediatric dental residency program at the University of Illinois - Chicago; an institution with some of the most exceptional and gifted pediatric dentists practicing today as his mentors.
