Dr. Diogenes F Duarte, MD

I am confused by the lady who left the poor review. I have been Dr. D's patient since 2011 (I think, maybe longer) The office staff has ALWAYS been friendly, helpful and efficient. Maybe they reacted to her attitude. I love, respect and admire Dr. Duarte. I used to have horrible bouts of bronchitis every year that would last 3-4 months. I also had severe sleep Apnea but no one would test me. Told me to "just lose weight". I had the Apnea symptoms since I was a child and the sleep test was a definite positive. Due to his care and treatment I have only had one bronchial infection since I started seeing him. I sleep comfortably with my CPAP and he even got me on better prescriptions for my heart issues (which were not good for my lungs). Any doctor worth his salt would want to see results of previous tests before ordering new ones. She didn't mention if he was currently using a CPAP or other sleep device. Even medicare requires a new test every 5 years to ensure the condition… still exists. You have short changed your husband's health care by your preconceived ideas. Dr, D is awesome!

Would be a 0 but doesn’t give that option , office is rude , my husband was referred to Dr Durante I called to schedule new patient apt , person didn’t ask when my husband had last sleep study I was sure it was 5-6 years ago , not one mention of has he ever had a sleep study not one , primary use by referral to him so we assumed with his symptoms of weight gain , sweating at night , recordings of him snoring , hiccups during sleep the appointment was to schedule sleep study , well what a joke we have a 80 copay , my husband tells sr his symptoms, says it was over 3 years ago , dr says we need your old results well it was 6 years ago but no one mentioned on phone they needed that info , , or I would have called first place he went to , dr says I need to see you in 4 weeks bring your results from 3 plus years ago we will look over it to see if you need a new one , what bill he just told you the symptoms he is having you want to look at old results from 3 years ago , if your wanting old… results from 3 years ago tell your office staff to mention that to people so they can bring it in , what they wanted was to bill another office visit to say yeah you need a new one , when I called to tell them my husband was off on the 3 years that it was 6 years ago that I could get results could we schedule it all she said was your husband said 3 years ago , your husband said 3 years ago repeated it several times , that the dr needed to see old results even after I informed her that it was 6 years ago , made husband appointment with Simed he has his sleep study scheduled, this dr didn’t want to see results from 3 years ago he said things can change within months due to weight gain etc , stay away from this place you’ll have unnecessary visits just to bill your insurance if you don’t want to go to Gainesville go to UF sleep clinic affiliation north Florida my husband had his 6 years ago , no issues they scheduled sleep study on phone , husband did sleep study at home they even fedex the equipment to your home Durante is a joke

DR. DUARTE AND HIS STAFF ARE THE BEST!!!! HE IS A DOCTOR YOU CAN TALK TO AND HE LISTENS TO WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY. HE SEARCHES HARD TO FIND WAYS TO MAKE YOUR LIFE BETTER. I THANK GOD HE HEADED ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTON- WHEN I WAS SENT TO SEE THE DOCTOR. HE IS A WONDERFUL DOCTOR AND PERSON.

I would highly recommend Dr Duarte. He has the best bed side manner, respectful and truly concerned for his patient care. Dr Duarte is kind, thorough, and very meticulous with the care of his patients. His staff is kind and always helpful. The office is immaculately clean. We never wait very long in the office. My Mom has been seeing Dr Duarte for about 1 year and a half. She developed pneumonia during the holidays in 09. She just didn't seem to recover. She continued to see Dr Duarta for treatment. He preformed a CT scan of her lungs. The CT scan showed a spot. He told us he believed it was cancer and sent her to another local DR for a PET scan. Scan was unclear concerning diagnoses. The Dr we were referred to said to wait and repeat scan in 6 months. Dr Duarta did not feel comfortable and sent her for a biopsy. Biopsy was positive for cancer. She has had radiation and we await the next scan to see what is next.

First, let me start by saying I like Dr. Duarte - I was very pleased with him and his manner and experience. He came highly recommended and the recommendation was correct concerning him. Now, to the part that was not a good experience. I would like to write about my overall experience during my sleep study, but, well, it is really hard to give an evaluation when the scheduler messes up and you drive over an hour, actually ride because I can't drive so I have to find transportation, only to find they don't have you on the schedule for the night you were told to be there. It is an extreme imposition as I have many other health issues that have to be accommodated, I have only so many days I can get transportation and have MY SCHEDULE for doctor appointments for me and my autistic son on a tight schedule. This messes up my schedule (for the night of the study as well as follow-ups and other appointments, my sleep, my pain, my anxiety. Obviously I am extremely unhappy with the… situation. Perhaps I should be compensated for my time and gas - perhaps $200 - which I would have been charged had I not shown up for my appointment. Perhaps it should work both ways.
