Dr. Dirk Burgess Thacker, MD

Following an auto accident the ambulance took me to the ER with Dr. Thacker in attendance. The EMT's had already accused of abusing prescription drugs. So the PA ran with that which was not true. It was the PA who I saw. I don't even think I saw this doctor, but at around 6:00pm that day he concurred with the PA it was true. I was outraged! No one at Baptist Central ER bothered to hear the whole story behind my wreak.

I would never choose to go see this doctor again. He was dismissive of my symptoms ( severe abdominal pain) 2 weeks after having pancreatitis. My CT came back negative - but as a NP, myself- I know that it typically takes 48-72 hours for changes to show on CT.. Hydration status can affect the pancreatic enzymes- ESP if patient going from acute pancreas problems to long term. He treated me like I was scum after her got the labs and ct report back. He didn't even acknowledge abnormal findings in my lab work or CT and sent me home to " follow up with PCP". I have been in worse pain than when I was in labor- but Id sooner eat dirt off of someone's shoe than ask him for a pain script. I am home - my husband works and I take care of our baby. If something happens tomorrow , I literally have noone to help with the baby. I wanted to get to the bottom of it and he just labeled me "gastritis" and sent me home. I'm sorry but gastritis does not illicit pain that is a 10-10, unable to move ( which… I was this morning) . Now - I'm incredibly frightened Bc I know the worst that could happen, I'm offended for being treated as just another ER scum bag, and I'm still in an incredible amount of pain. He gave me IV pain meds- but when I asked for the GI cocktail to confirm gastritis - it was NEVER ordered. Case of a doctor who didn't want to delve into what could be wrong and do some actual differential diagnosing. He acted like I was lying saying I was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis 2 weeks ago . I'm so unhappy- frustrated- and scared! We drove 4 hours to CBH Bc of our insurance. We were out of town for the weekend, and I came home to be treated with poor- simple - care. He did the bare minimum. Just because I don't roll around on the floor like an idiot- doesn't mean I don't hurt! And more than that/ my labs indicate poor immune system and inflammation- he said all was normal. Even told me my LFTs were normal- but I got a lab print out which shows they aren't. The doc in the ER 2 weeks ago was leaps and bounds more empathetic . I am paying to be seen and DR Thacker acted as if I was "faking ". Gastritis my Fannie!! If I had a patient I didn't know what was wrong with and they insisted that something was wrong- Id order a consult!! Nope- nothing!
