My criticism of this doctor is he does not rely on the clinical interview, psychiatric tests (ie MMPI) Also, when requesting my medical records it was like pulling teeth to get them..now I know why. As a fellow physician, I know there are certain ways to keep medical records and progress notes This doctor fails at this

I have had psychotherapy off and on for about 25 years as needed for life’s ups and downs. I have only been a client of psychologists versus a psychiatrist until Dr. Losacco. The challenge with a psychologist is they cannot prescribe, but can recommend asking your internist for an antidepressant or whatever they feel you need. From my experience most internists are not as familiar, up to date or comfortable prescribing psych drugs. I have been on an antidepressant for 20 years due to several life tragedies and a family predisposition for depression and anxiety. I went to Dr. Losacco from a friend referral that spoke highly of him. My challenge was not being able to get over the hump of the feeling of just existence and low functioning depression. Dr. Losacco listened and evaluated the meds I was on and suggested/prescribed an increase in one and an additional med. I was open to trying but was hesitant. One year later I can say he is amazing. He knew exactly what I needed and I feel… like myself again. He is an excellent and knowledgeable doctor. He is an expert in psych meds and most doctors are not. I like that he is straight forward and to the point. It blows me away, reading the negative comments. It makes me wonder what you expect from a psychiatrist and if you really are wanting a friend or a babysitter. Dr. Losacco is an experienced psychiatrist, asks the pertinent questions, listens and accesses. Then he takes the steps to prescribe a meds plan that will treat the diagnosis. His follow up is great, always checking if you are comfortable with your meds and if they are helping. He has a tough job, especially with people that may have an unrealistic expectation and want a quick fix or a sounding board to share their feelings. If you feel that he is pushing drugs, analyze yourself if what you are taking is working as prescribed, have you allowed the appropriate time to take affect. Then figure out if you need a psychologist for ‘talk’ therapy, which is another layer of help. You need to own the responsibility of getting to the next level, just say it is not working, or it is too much and/or find someone else that you feel more comfortable with. Quit blaming the doctor for your lack of communication or lack of taking responsibility for what is your decision.

Simply gives you whatever new pill is in his closet, which does not' work. Avoids "talk therapy." Fired him. Saw a psychologist and I am now doing well.

The doctor is in his late 60s and it kind of appears to me that he's getting ready to retire, if you know what I mean, and that is the type of care that you get from him. I simply wouldn't recommend him. He also has no problems at all just handing out controlled drugs like candy, and I've heard this from others as well
