Dr. Dominick Anthony Defrances JR., DO

This is the second time my family has had to contact this physician while he was covering after-hours calls, and unfortunately both experiences were extremely disappointing. On both occasions, he was abrupt, dismissive, and unwilling to listen to our concerns. Rather than asking questions to better understand the situation, he appeared rushed and even stated that he “did not have time for this.” Our concerns were not adequately addressed, and there was little effort made to gather information or provide meaningful guidance. When families call an on-call physician, it is because they are worried and seeking medical advice. Patients deserve to be treated with professionalism, compassion, and respect, especially during after-hours situations when options are limited. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Beyond the poor bedside manner, there seemed to be a lack of thoroughness and curiosity regarding the medical issue being presented. The interaction left us feeling dismissed… rather than cared for. Based on these repeated experiences, I have serious concerns about this physician’s suitability for on-call responsibilities and the level of patient care being provided.

Avoid seeing this ???doctor??? at all costs! After having been "inherited" by Dr DeFrances, it was apparent from our first meeting he didn't like me and held my previous physician in disdain. He sent me for testing for HIV and Hepatitis C after I told him I have been a blood donor for 50 years and have already been tested each and every time I donate! He has sent me for every test imaginable in the short time I've been his patient, and some even with my co-pay are nearly $900 He doesn't trust me or my word, and spends my money like I'm a millionaire. He's the most self righteous, self absorbed, arrogant piece of work I've ever met. I've requested a change of physician records release and will find a real doctor.

i was in need of help with insomnia from quitting smoking marijuana, he wanted to prescribe (prozac, celecxa, serratonin blockers ect) i refused and wanted something for sleep like zanax or something like that, he suggested a type of pill that was 150.00 for 14 pills.. not covered by my upmc. He looked at me like i was a heroin addict, rolled his eyes at me because i was being very true with him. Not a good dr. no passion only a frustrated man when it wasn't going his way.

When I visited Dr. DeFrances there was little wait time. Once he came in to see me, he was personable and showed care in dealing with me. Overall it was a pleasant surprise of a visit and I wholeheartedly recommend him to others.

I've had multiple visits to Dr. DeFrances and every time I have left feeling very happy. Each time I've been there, from check-ups to emergency visits, the staff has been nice and there were virtually no wait times. Dr. DeFrances is very kind, honestly I was surprised to read some of these reviews below because he has always been so gentle and caring. Their new facilities are state of the art and I would recommend Dr. DeFrances to people of any age, simply because of his professionalism and great bedside manner.

He is extremely impatient. Broke news to my mother she had cancer like he was talking about the weather. No patience for questions and is arrogant. I wouldn't even mind if he knew what he was doing or even showed an ounce of caring. Choose Dr. Wang in the same office. She is wonderful!

I was quite pleased by Dr. Defrances's caring nature. He was very thorough with his questions and made sure I understood what he was explaining to me. My follow up visit was arranged before I left my appointment.

This D.O. is extremely abrupt, impatient to the point of rude. In my elderly fathers last visit he was visibly impatient and unhappy with my father's lack of succinct responses to his questions. He even began to quiz him in a demeaning way on past hospitalizations, confusing my father, when the Dr. was looking at the medical history and had the answers to his questions. We were there for abdominal pain not neurological issues. The Dr. eventually ignored my Father and looked to me for answers. My Father walked out of the appointment feeling unnecessarily sad, diminished and insulted. Completely unacceptable behavior for any professional.
