Dr. Donald David Bacon, MD

I went to see doctor Bacon twelve years ago and he was very helpful, he was willing to go above and beyond the call of duty in order to help me manage the painful symptoms, but about two years ago I showed up to my regular appointment only to be told that he was dismissing all of his SSDI pateints, and stated that he was going to have to close the doors and lose his retirement if he kept us on the schedule, he went on to state that his practice made money on procedures and that he was not willing to provide palliative care for patients who only needed medications, he did not act inapprpriately again after that, his staff sure did, I started keeping a journal of the misconduct taking place during the meetings and eventually began audiorecording my visits with his subordianates just to assure myself that I was not imaginiing the abusive conduct, he lost his entire staff over the next two years, all of the kind people left the practice and were replaced with petulant children who have… little to no respect for his patients and seem to enjoy being rude and inapprpriate, I understand that our pain doctors are being put in a bind with new laws and policies, but this is still unaccetpable conduct for a patient physician relationship, be very wary of them pushing unneccessary procedures on you.

The office mgr Tina, medical asst Chris and receptionist Christina are three of the worst staff members in the medical field ever!! Dr. bacon is a great doctor however these staff members have made going to the office and contacting the office unbearable. These 3 are trying to run the office and practice medicine in Dr. Bacons name and are horrible.

My experience with Dr. Bacon very heartbreaking story. When he had his own practice, he was/is a wonderful doctor. He would spend as much time with you as needed. His bedside manner was impeccable! He always hugged me after every appt. His knowledge was nothing short of amazing. Then he sold his practice to a company called Texas Pain Management. His entire staff was just gone... gone out of the blue, including his PA who was wonderful as well. They added a doctor who was beyond terrible! They didn’t let you choose which doctor you wanted to see (so I never saw Dr. Bacon again). They were told by the company that bought them out that they had to book 40-45 appointments a day. The wait time was no less than 3 hours. The new staff was awful, rude, insensitive, and at times down right mean. I will always miss Dr. Bacon but I can not recommend anyone to go to Texas Pain Management..... in fact stay as far away as possible.

HIS NEW DR. THEY CALL HIM DR. E IS VERY RUDE HAS KNOW CONSIDERATION FOR HIS PAITAENCE . THE WAIT WAS UNREAL 21/2 HOURS WHY HAVE AN APPOINTMENT.

I have been going to him for almost 20 years, he is friendly and a great doctor who CARES for his patients. He saved my life by putting an intrathecal pump for pain relief .. it is the best thing ! He cares for his patients a whole lot, altho his staff (except for Connie) are sometime unaware of you pain !

First the Good: The doctor is fantastic. My first visit, he spent over an hour with me, taking a very thorough history and evaluation. I've never felt so listened to by a doctor (his staff is another story). If he had a better staff, I would give 5 stars in a heartbeat.

Although his bedside manner was extremely condescending, he was a good listener and thorough history taker. However, he offered me only 2 possibilities for treatment: a procedure for my back pain or narcotics. He was not open to hearing about other methods of treatment.

Before going to Dr. Bacon, I could barely walk in my yard, do any work at all without terrible pain. After many procedures to see how truly bad my spine was, I was evaluated for and had an intrathecal pain pump implanted.This was an amazing decision that we made together. His nurse Connie is an angel and makes all of my office visits a joy. I truly love Dr. B, he is a wonderful doctor, a Christian man, but most of all, he is my dear compassionate friend who is truly concerned with my comfort and well being. I thank God that I was sent to him years ago when I thought there was no hope of living a normal life.

Dr Bacon himself is caring getting past his gatekeepers is another story. They change to often and are either to busy talking about none work related things to keep things focused. At one late afternoon appointment I heard then complaining about us patients making them late to go home!!! Seriously??? Get a different job then I am getting a new provider of care I demand a caring staff and Dr unfortunately Dr Bacon cannot keep caring staff in place

I was referred through tri-care. Dr Bacon was thorough in his examination, pinpointed my low back pain problem and recommended radiofrequency ablation to help with my pain. Since having this procedure my pain level decreased 90% . I couldn't be happier with Dr Bacon's surgical expertise and down-to-earth bedside manner. San Antonio is lucky to have a pain management specialist of Dr Bacon's caliber.
