Dr. Donald Brent Cherry, MD

If you are a worker that doesn't have a very flexible schedule or if you want a practice that is respectful of your time you should probably look for another physician practice. Not because Dr. Cherry is not a thorough, competent, and skilled physician, he is, but because the staff and administrative employees have no respect for your time. Most workers do not have the luxury of scheduling doctor's appointments months in advance, thus when you call for an appointment, should you need one within the next couple of months, you are told what is available and when you accept, schedule and arrive on time for your appointment you often have to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour before you actually see the doctor. As an example, I work about an hour away from Dr. Cherry's office. I had scheduled an appointment (15-minute appointment) for today at 11:15 AM. I had to be back at work at 1:00 PM. Thus, I had taken a half day off work for this appointment. When I arrived 45 minutes early (10:30… AM) for my appointment I told the receptionist that I have arrived early for my 11:15 AM appointment and need to be finished by noon so that I can return to work. She said Dr. Cherry was running a bit behind, but I should be able to get out by noon. I don't think she ever communicated my request to the clinical staff. I was called back at 11:50 AM by a medical assistant or nurse. I explained to this individual that I had arrived 45 minutes early and had to be out by noon to return to work. She said I would not see the doctor by noon because there were two patients in front of me, so by my math two additional 15-minute appointments would have Dr. Cherry arriving to see me at around 12:15 PM an hour after my appointment. I was unable to see Dr. Cherry after taking off a half day of work. Thus, I would strongly recommend you put at least an additional hour into your request to be off work should you choose to have Dr. Cherry as your physician.

Dr. Cherry is a wonderful doctor and takes the time to listen to your health problems and help develop a customized treatment plan that will work for you. With that said, I have found the office staff to be extremely slow to respond and lacking in customer service skills - to the point of being rude. There have been several times I have called and left multiple messages regarding health issues that have gone unanswered. My pharmacy has had to call the office for prescription information that was left off the order, and it took almost a week to get a response from the office. The same is true for records requests. My specialists have requested records and test results from Dr. Cherry's office that has taken an extremely long time to receive. You are rarely able to speak with a person if you call in to the office, and if you need to speak with a nurse, you will always get voicemail. Sometimes you do not get a call back, and if you do, it may take a couple of days.

Dr. Brent Cherry is a wonderful doctor however his office staff is hateful and extremely rude. Dr. Cherry's office staff treats the patients like they are a burden for them to deal with. If you try to speak with the doctor about the staff you are not allowed to, you are sent to the office manager who is just as rude as the front office staff. I know several patients have left the practice because of the office staff. Dr. Brent is wonderful I can not say the same for his staff.

This is in response to the person above. First, if you feel confident enough to bash a great doctor please, include your name. Doctors are human and make mistakes just like everyone else. He IS professional, caring, and great at what he does.

The worst doctor I have ever had I should of got another doctor longtime ago I just didn't know how to choose one. He's one those doctors that don't care what you have to say and only acts like he wants you out so he can get to the next patient to treat the same. He tried to write me a perscription for a problem I was having when he already did it the last visit and I had to tell him that we already tried that. This happened on 2 differant occasions for differant problems I was having. He acts like he don't know what's going on with you. And I can go on and on with this guy. Bad news that's all I can say. I don't understand why he can ever get a good review unless he wrote them himself or people with simple health problems wrote them.
